[Signing] - Raymond

Recommended Posts

Well back when they signed him to his last contract he was showing signs of the ability to score. Unfortunately he broke his back, and now has to work his way up to how good he was before. They paid him the minimum amount they could, and for the shortest term. Mike Gillis knows more than any of us, and he thinks Raymond can get back to the player he used to be. Right now hes getting paid over 2 million for doing something that hes good at. It might not be worth 2 Million a year, but the investment in Raymond could pay off in the end... if he becomes what he used to be.

IMO, hes good for what his job is. Hes fast, he can bring the puck from their own end of the ice, into the other teams end, and get a shot on net.

I believe his job is mainly to get the puck into the other teams end, scoring is a bonus...but getting the puck on the other teams goalie, and forcing a whistle in their end is a good advantage. Raymond is very good at this.

Not everyone on the team has to be a dangler that will score on every chance. Some players are used for different situations... and Raymond is perfect for this.

MG stated he wants to get bigger and younger... he has done none of that yet signing May ray is stupid he can't do anything he had one good year and MG has been clinging on that one good year as a reason to keep him and set him up on the second line but for god sakes enough of this Jensen is already better than May ray he is just keeping young players from a roster spot

He better show some compete, sick and tired of watching him fall down consistently. He's a finesse player, he doesn't hit, doesn't work along the boards. So he better stay on his feet if he wants to play the finesse game.

Looking at all the hate on this thread... and people wonder why Luongo wants out.

Raymond came back from a broken spine... I wonder if anyone here could say they had a broken spine, and then played in the NHL the year after.

So much disrespect in Vancouver, its disgusting.

All these people talking trash about the players on the team is just giving the "fans" of the team a bad reputation, then no one will want to play here.

QFT - 33 playoff games, 2 goals.

Yes he is good on the PK. But c'mon.

A lot of this was with PP time, and time on the 1st and 2nd lines.

He creates NOTHING. Not chances, not turnovers and not space for his linemates. His creativity, aside from the shootout is....pretty much.....go wide, sweep around the net then flick a wrister towards the general vacinity of goalie.

Raymond is an asset. You don't give away assets for nothing. Did you do this much whining when we took Raymond to Arbitration?

Because I can tell you that the outcome of the arbitration hearing would have been similar to this, but with a possibly increased price tag.

Look May Ray just doesn't fit with the Canucks there is no reason he should be on this team he is a flash in the pan type player he had one good season get over it he is not a 20-25 goal scorer he is a 10-15 which we have plenty of them already Hansen<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< May Ray Jensen>>>>>>>>>>>>May Ray so why the hell do we keep may ray? is May ray MG's Rome? well give it up lover boy cause AV gave up rome

As if it's any different in any other market. There is a very strong correlation between the level of interest in the city, and the amount of pressure and negative media the players get. Some want to play out of the spotlight and some want to be in a big hockey town, and they know what comes with it. To specifically slag Canucks fans over this is painfully naive.
