      BOARD SPECIFIC RULES   02/05/2016

These are board specific rules, meant to try to make the Trades and Free Agent Signings forum better for everyone. YOU MUST READ AND ABIDE BY THESE FORUM RULES.

      1. If an event happens, wait a few minutes before posting, in all likelihood, someone has already posted it. We don't want numerous threads on the same event, so please search before posting.

      2. Please provide a clearly identifiable topic title for your thread so that user's can search for and find the appropriate thread easily. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate. This is to help avoid duplicate threads and to make searching easier. For any and all comments, please use the Topic Description box instead of the title.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriately label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].

      3. All trades, signings, rumours and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread.

The following are NOT considered valid sources: Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Hockeybuzz, Spector's Hockey and The Fourth Period are currently acceptable sources.

The NHL Line, Brochu is Hockey and NHL Hockey News by saint Pako are currently invalid sources.

      4. Clearly misrepresenting the contents of your thread or posting false Trades/Signings/Acquisitions to send the forum into a frenzy will be taken very seriously and will result in an automatic suspension.

      5. Please put all proposals into the proposals forum and NOT this forum. Proposals found in this forum will be moved or deleted without warning.

      6. Please report any threads or messages that violate these or other board rules to the administrators or moderators() Do not respond by posting spammy messages such as 'IBTL', and 'LOCK AND BAN', or by attacking other users. The report button is located to the bottom left of every post.

Thank you for your co-operation and please PM one of the Moderators or Administrators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

LA Kings...haha, I don't think so. Only chance of Doan signing there is if the Kings trade away Dustin Brown

I wonder if Shane Doan will pick Vancouver based upon the like minded players we have on this team. I think a point could be made that the friendship of Raymond and Garrison played a role in him signing here.

Does the fact that Shane Doan is an outspoken devout Christian make him want to play on a team that has a Christian emphasis in the dressing room? We heard last year that the Canucks have their own church service before each game with their own chapel in the room; obviously participation is only for those who want to be a part of it.

Vancouver has a history of having religious leadership most recently Markus Naslund. Having a team with Hamhuis, Raymond, and Booth as traditional Christian followers; perhaps Doan may find this "dressing room" as a fit for him.

I don't want this to turn into a flame war about religion, as I don't think theology has anything to do with the subject; it's just a point I considered as potential familiarity and like-mindedness for a potential UFA.

I let people live any lifestyle they choose to as long as they respect others; and so I have no issue with people with Christian morals and lifestyles. I think the more responsible, moral, and respectable players we have, the better.

Its not going to be a 1 or 2 year deal like people on here are dreaming of.

Is this a Doan deal yet?

That sounds eerily similar to Philly jumping into the Parise/Suter duo sweepstakes in order to make sure Pittsburgh didn't get at a discounted price. That's just an absolutely ridiculous offer that would handcuff the Kings for three years.

I'd give him 5 mill a season for 3 years, then club option for a 4th at 2 mill! then give him a 250000 siging bonus that should be a great contract offer for doan and he is worth it as a leader and player.

John Gambadoro, the source from the previous page on Doan regarding the Kings offer, just reported on his radio show that the offer could be for 30 mil over 5 years.

That is a crippling contract for a soon to be 36 year old.

The signature petition is still being disputed. The citizens running the petition believe by law, they have 30 days to collect the required number of sigs and that the City of Glendale has not alolowed the proper time. That dispute will drag on.

There is still the distinct possibility of further legal challenges from Gold-whatever institute that is a watchdog over government spending.

I also believe, the new buyer, has not yet raised the neccessary cash to close the deal.

All of this should make Doan nervous about teh future stability of the Yotes.

this is the last of the big name free agents....expect it to get stupid by the teams that missed out on Parise and Suter.

Totally agree with you here, Doan would be a great fit for our franchise, but I have learnt along time ago not to hold my breath when it comes to Free Agency.

Definitely not 1. 2 or 3, I would assume. I don't imagine that even Doan would want that long a term. A guy like him might feel bad about sandbagging his team by retiring. He'll be 36 once this season gets underway.

Unfortunately this is true.

Expect teams like, NYR, LA, Philly to make stupid offers.

Nucks will not get into a spending battle for Doan. MG seems to be serious about spreading the wealth throughout the team and not top-loading salaries like many teams appear to be doing.

They sure will get into the bidding for Doan if he wants to come here.Businesses can be sold, so can a ranch. They want to be back near home which is vancouver.

If the nucks are serious about winning they pay the money and worry about it later.... win a frick'n cup, any cup! Just not the presidents cup.

He's lived here for 15 years... This is as much home at this point as any place else is. His kids have grown up here. This is their home... I doubt he's moving back to Canada full time except to possibly play a few years.

Canucks will bid, but we won't be aiming to out-bid other teams. We'll make an offer that is fair, probably something like 5mil per for 2-3 years, and then try to sell him on the team and the city. We won't be offering 30mil over 6 just because LA did. Bidding yes, war, no.

Well...if a religious atmosphere is part of his criteria, it does give the Nucks an advantage over the Kings and some of their "party animal" gang.

It could be a factor for Doan. I played on a senior men's team that travelled to Europe a couple times and the behaviour of some of the guys on the road made for some altered relationships. Sure, when you're on the ice you can overlook stuff but these NHL guys spend weeks on the road with eachother and the behaviour of other players can really mess with chemistry. Just take a look at Boston after Thomas went all political on them!!
