MaxLapierreAwesomeFace
Canucks will bid, but we won't be aiming to out-bid other teams. We'll make an offer that is fair, probably something like 5mil per for 2-3 years, and then try to sell him on the team and the city. We won't be offering 30mil over 6 just because LA did. Bidding yes, war, no.

D-Money
LA's been arguably the best team when it comes to managing the cap. They haven't lost a single player from their run and have about $8-9 million in cap space.
grandmaster
Would love to have this guy. Will be very upset if LA got him. A Stanley Cup winning team should not be allowed to improve!!!! Our team has lost too many key players since being a Stanley Cup finalist that was put out 2yrs ago. Collectively: Ehrhoff, Salo, Samuelson, Torres>>>>>>>>Garrison, Booth
Millerdraft
I cannot believe people are willing to give a 35 year old who might get you 50 points a year 6 mil per or a 4 year contract. WTF people? He's an aging power forward who plays all out every shift. No way does he have 4 high quality years left in him. No way is he worth 6 mil per considering the contracts real superstars get that are close to that. I love the intangibles and yes they are what the Canucks need to a tee, but to overpay an aging player for them is completely foolish both short and long term. Wolverinė
Funny how facing the back to back Conn Smythe winning goaltenders will result in a team needing "serious offensive help" while facing the absolute worst goalie in the first round (Fleury) will make another team look "100%" better... JLumme
Yeah, and a lot of their core is locked up for a while. The only really big signings (with raises) they'll have to make is Voynov this year and Brown the next. Most of the other guys (Penner, Gagne, Scuderi) are replaceable (and likely not going to need much of a raise anyway).

D-Money
$6m per is not a good idea but that poster did bring up a good point about front loading. With Luongo's $47m remaining gone (including $6.714m over the next 6 years for a total of $36.84m), that frees up a big chunk to throw at Doan. 2012: $9m 2013: $9m 2014: $5m 2015: $2m 2016: $1m Total: $26m Cap hit: $5.2m Buyout in June, 2015: $2m spread over 4 years (2/3 of remaining salary spread over two times the term left) = $500k cap hit. Wolverinė
9 million per season for a 35 year-old with a grand total of 60 goals in his last 3 full seasons? Burrows, his 89 goals over the same time period, and his agent would find that pretty interesting. Gillis may have offered Sundin 10 - but as much as I like Doan, he's not half the dominant force that Mats was.

Ray Canuck
The petition was not handed in yesterday and unless a court will rule that they have until the 16th to hand it in it's over. Speculation on that happening (court giving the petition more time) is said to be slim. What did make the ballot for Glendale's November election is a sales tax increase, which is needed to pay for promises in the lease with Jamieson. http://www.bondbuyer...-1041613-1.html All candidates running in the civic elections say they are against the lease and will nix it if given a chance, word is the current city counsel wants to ram the lease through ASAP so the incoming elected officials would have a very difficult time reversing the deal. Folks..... The sale to the Jamieson group will go ahead that means..... Doan will sign for the Coyotes Guaranteed!
canucks_dynasty
Easy-peasy for Doan. Sign with PHX to a 5yr 25M deal (5M aav) and have a reverse NTC...a TC (Trade Clause). If the team relocates, move, etc...PHX must trade him to a team of his choosing for a return of only a 2nd round draft pick for the following year. Done. suolucidir
Yeah, I'm of the opinion that it's adios to Burrows next year no matter what. Doan would do 100x more for Kassian's development than Burrows would.
