slowly but surely, his value is becoming ridiculous.

Doan is worth 4.5 million tops.

I can settle for 5m.... but to make more then Ryan Kesler at his age?

Lol. What a joke...

If he's the piece that puts us over the top and helps us win a cup, I would give him 10 million a season.

Sorry, but we're not winning a cup with Raymond on our second line, period.

Higgins is better than Raymond, so with a healthy line-up Raymond still wouldn't make the second line. I agree though .. our team as is has a pretty low chance of winning the cup - as much as I don't like to admit it, I don't see it happening unless we make a significant addition (or two).

Agreed. I also think he very well COULD be the guy that puts us over the top.

I think that 4 years 6 mil a year should be the absolute max he goes for, but if he goes for more, good for him. :)

Does his family not plan on leaving Phoenix if he signs elsewhere?.. I keep hearing he wants to stay with his family so I was wondering if there's a report on it.. You'd think his wife would love to move to bc

I think we're all pretty much agreed on that.

This is why Gillis needs a significant player from the Luongo trade, or a package of strictly picks and prospects so he can use the resulting Cap space to sign someone.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

The assumption is that they're living there after he retires and he doesn't want to disrupt the kids school. So during the hockey season his wife and kids would stay down there

That's a pretty big IF though. We could sign doan, semin and trade Raymond for Rick Nash and its not a garauntee.. IMO too many things have to go right for you to win the cup, like health, peaking at the right time, goalie stealing games when you can't score ect. Not to mention if those things are going right you don't run into the LA kings when their things are going even righter.

I'd offer him a contract but not one that handicaps our team going forward

Well if you don't take a chance, you'll never know.

The Kings took a chance on Richards and Carter and won the cup.

I guarantee keeping the status quo won't lead to anything.

There's no deadline at all, Doan's agent was pretty clear on that. We might not hear of a Doan signing for a month for all we know, although I have a hunch that he won't take longer than a couple of more weeks to sign somewhere.

It's very likely that he'll stay with Phoenix, unfortunately for us. But that's not so bad, it still beats the alternative of him signing with a bitter rival like Chicago or LA.

I'd rather read an invalid source than listen to you complain through this whole thread. Nothing personal, just saying.

Completely agree. If you dont like the source, dont read it. It still leads to thoughtful discussion. I hate how people come on here and try to act like internet cops. Chill out!!! We're all fans here. Check your anger at the door and stop putting people down for posting these rumors. Its such a downer when people try to act all high and mighty over valid and invalid sources. If you feel that strongly about it, get off these boards and only follow TSN. People dont need your negative attitude on here......i seriously hate this message board sometimes!!!

Oh you mean the same FOUR-NOTHING score the Canucks lost in game 7.

At least there are excuses for the Canucks. Spain figured out the Italians like a rubik's cube and i enjoyed all 90 minutes of it.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.

What were the Canuck excuses for losing 4-0 in the final game? Vancouver played just as Sh!tty as Italy in their final games

No i agree with you some changes need to be made, I just dont think handing Shane 10 million a season for the next few years is in our best interest(I assume that statement was just to prove a point anyways). Cut the dollar amount in half and I'd sign him

I think our chance taking is going to come with the Lu trade. Also I wouldn't write booth off just yet, maybe getting some time without kesler will help him settle in more.. I think we're going in the right direction, the steps were taking are just too subtle for us impatient fans. Especially after seeing mike Richards raise the cup.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

The market is fk**ed, this is the year it reminds me when Jeff finger was payed 4 mill.

Wait until the new CBA comes out, it will fix itself.

Doan is worth 4.25 max, but in this off season 6.5 sounds about right.
