Jay Feaster's thought process:
"If Thomas won't play this year, I bet we'd be able to pry him out of Boston for picks and prospects!"
Way to think outside the box!

Peter Chiarelli: Alright you SOB, we need you to waive your No Trade Clause so we can ship you off to the Flames.

Tim Thomas: I dunno... ain't dem Canadians a buncha pinko socialist brown-fellers?

Peter Chiarelli: But this is Calgary...

Thomas must be one of those guys that threatened he would move to Canada if Obamacare passed.

Actually Alec Baldwin promised he'd go if Bush got a 2nd term.. Unfortunately he didn't keep his promise. Now he's beating up reporters and yelling at women like a lunatic.

Why not? I wouldn't mind a goalie fight, defiantly if Luongo stays for awhile at the beginning of the season, Thomas vs. Luongo.

I heard Feaster was pissed the Sharks signed Larry Robinson. Feaster was interested in having him play defense.

This would be hilarious if true. Doubtful it is, but still.. imagine..
Calgary Flames sign Tim Thomas!
Tim Thomas tells them he is still taking the year off!
Hilarity ensues!

TT can only sign for half a year. He's getting raptured somewhere around Christmas.

The only way this makes sense is from a political perspective. Importing a conservative like Thomas means less room for another socialist tree hugger who wants to use oil and gas but not produce it. Idiots.

Even when there seems to be no way, the Flames find a way to make themselves more pathetic.

No I'd like to keep blowing out the Leafs badly. And what if Thomas does somehow end up in CGY and then decides to retire or take another season off?

Ok Tim, so what if we told you that we could sign you to live in a city that has been going strong since the world ended in 2004? Would you be interested?

He ain't even playing next year.

There is a lot of speculation that he simply isn't playing for Boston, and if he were traded, he'd reconsider.

I would actually love it if the flames got thomas. Get to destroy him and the flames 6x a year would be a dream come true.

Kipper's NTC has expired. Perhaps the Flames feel they can get a lot more for Kipper than what it would cost to land Thomas (very likely), without losing much performance-wise.

Thomas' Conservatism will fit in fine in Alberta. And if by some miracle he wins a cup with the Flames, he won't be invited to the Whitehouse.

He'd get invited to harpers summer getaway and get to listen to all is genuis ideas. He'd start pitchin a major tent hearing where this country is going and sign a long term deal with the senators to take him to 67 yrs old.

Makes sense, the Flames & Bruins both hate us, thus by Calgary giving Boston more assets, it may piss us off more, and by Thoms coming to Calgary it makes us have to look at his cheeky smile 6 times a year (when he decides to play though) lmao

Is that a joke account?

Makes less sense than anything I've seen them do. That says a lot.

Think harder.

Thomas would cost nothing. They could surely get a decent return for Kiprusoff. Thomas is on the last year of his deal, just like Iginla. If their season's going good, they keep them and go to the playoffs. If their season's going bad, they sell BOTH at the deadline, and surely walk away with a sizable return.

It's a Billy Beane-esque move, if they do it. I like it.

Actually this deal makes sense.

Thomas is taking this year off and the entire Flames roster took last year off...
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Haha, that fits.

If Thomas is only taking a break due to conflicts with the B's then he might make a good replacement for Kipper who, being a bit younger, might fetch more in a trade. Could be a good precursor to a rebuild. But then we'd have to assume that the Flames management gives a crap about the long term success of their franchise.

Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists somewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

It bugs me when people pull out the gold medal for an example... Luongo only had to outplay Brodeur.

This has to go in the best thread ever read category.

That's just dumb.

Tandumb.

Really, Flames fans, you may want to avoid this thread.

But I could see Boston sending a prospect Calgary's way in order to get Thomas' cap hit off the books - and Calgary is, after all, the natural destination... the clearing house of cap hits....
