Penguins News Feed is reporting unconfirmed reports that Pens will announce signing Alex Semin tomorrow.

I bet OV is choked over Semin signing with the enemy.

I predict 50 goals for Semin playing with Malkin. If Neal scored 40 with Malkin I think Semin will put up better numbers.

bull. He has offers of around 10m per season in Russia. I don't see him playing in NA unless offered close to that.

Or maybe, just maybe, Alex Semin is not a money hungry floater and WANTS to play in the NHL?

Proved wrong by a very accurate and respected russian journalist..

Stand by for link.

Edit:

Dmitry Chesnokov@dchesnokov
As some asked re: the 3 year $30m reported offer to Semin from the KHL - false on both the term and the money.

He's not wanting to go back to Russia. His intentions are to stay in the NHL, as per his agent...

while I don't think he's a heart and soul guy, he's not the floater/lack of character guy he'sportrayed as either. Solid signing by the Pens if this comes to fruition

He'll pop like a baloon when he has to go into the corners. I never liked Malkin so adding Semin simply increases my desire to send a Canadian commando squad into Pitt to rescue Crosby!

Yeah we'll see. They apparently had Parise locked up when in fact it was only between Minny and NJ.

I guess when Crosby is on LTIR forever, they'll certainly have cap room.

He probably wants to play with Geno.

And I think he has decided he would rather stay in NA instead of going back. I think the KHL is kind of a last option thing if he doesnt get close to what he wants.

Sedins could turn him into a scoring champ. Sometimes I wish MG would give players like this a chance instead of getting so wound up with the character thing.

Wow, that would be a nice run and gun with Semin. He's a far better fit in Pittsburg than he would be out here. All the best to him.

Semin signing with Pens makes me think he did this, in part to piss of the Caps. He signed 2 one year contracts with them when he could have cashed in.

Last year he signed a 1 year extension instead of cashing in on a long term multi million dollar contract as UFA. He was a good soldier in WSH but all the reports leaking out of WSH pbbly pissed him off.

This signing sounds like it is for a winger to play with Crosby, not another linemate for Malkin/Neal. Or Neal will play with Crosby and Semin with Malkin. Either way.

I dont know what to think about Semin, we'll just have to wait and see what he can do in another system

I'm tired of ppl talking about Semin's negative character when they don't have any clue on how he really is. The fact is Semin took a 1 year contract to play in WSH when he could have cashed in as UFA.

Most ppl prefer Suter and Parise, what did they do? They both bolted. Parise was a captain of the Devils and he left the team, if he was Russian he'd be called all sorts of names. Soldier means loyal, so far Semin has been loyal to the Caps even though he's had to put up with all sorts of negative crap.

Crosby might end up mentally handicapped if he takes one more hit.
