I think Jason Arnot would be a perfect fit for the 3rd line centre position.
He could fill in on the 2nd line until Kessler gets back. He is big, strong, and plays hard.
Then if we can sign Doan as well our line up would be:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kessler-Doan
Higgins-Arnot-Hanson
Lappierre-Malholtra-Kassian

I would sign Arnot for 1 year 2.5 mil and Doan for 2 years 3.5 mil.

Thoughts?

We can sign him but if we do we should give Schroeder a shot first, Arnott could then play on the 4th or be waived.

But I would rather acquire Dubinsky through trade than sign Arnott.

Sorry about the grammar.
I don't think the Canucks can afford to pay Doan more than 3.5 yr unless they can some how dump some salary somewhere else. ie Ballard.

IF the Canucks want Doan they'll have to pay him at least 1.5 more maybe 2.

I would rather give Schroeder the position. Just like CoHo last year. That or I would give Malhotra a second shot.

I would do it, if we have Doan + the cap space after to do it then why not?

Where else would we spend that $$$?

And he could really help us, he is an enormous upgrade on anyone we have right now who could fill that spot. Not to mention he can play wing in the top 6 when needed.

Doan apparently wants 4-5 years and 6 million $ per year.

If Doan could be had for 2 years at 3.5 million it would be done by now.

We need a 3rd line offensive scoring center more than Doan.

Sign Hecht for 2.5 million, similar to Raymond's contract and we're set. This guy is a 20 goal, 40 point producer and can play physical too, one of the most underated players in the NHL.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Higgins
Raymond - Hecht - Hansen
Lapierre - Malhotra - Kassian
Bitz

A 3rd line that can score 50-60 goals is impressive - you win Cups with that kind of offensive depth.

Term is too long, we'll need cap space as early as next year and he doesn't fit in the top 6.

Hecht only played 22 games last season , suffering from 2 separate concussions I am very pessimistic about a 35 year old returning to 20 g and 40 pts after a season like that.

Canucks should either go with youth on the 3rd line (Schroeder, Mathias) or shut down so the 2nd line can have easier match ups (Goc, Bolland, Malhotra if he can return to form)

He won't fit in the top 6, he would be a great fit on our third line. and I think it's only a 3 year deal? How is that too long.

CDC always trys to find something wrong.

He's the player we need, he would be a great fit with Hansen and Higgins (or whoever the wingers are), And aside from Kesler, no one on our team brings what he brings.

We need that element on our 3rd line, Kesler can't play there he is too good. That's why we get Dubinsky, he is one of those players who are instrumental to cup runs. And that's why I want him so bad, I want a cup and he's a guy who is willing to sacrifice and work hard, and do whatever it takes too win.

Those are the players we need.

Arnott could fit the role of 3rd line centre but I don't see it happening in Vancouver as there are better options. Maybe he goes back to Dallas ?

We have lots of options

Malhotra, lapierre, schroeder, gaunce
Or
Talbot, arnott, matthias, hecht.

Id like talbot.

Not old, grinder and great playoff performer

I'm pretty sure we don't have the assets to acquire Talbot without overpaying.
