Solution for Mason Raymond?

Come on Baggins, you know that Hamhuis doesn't fall down nearly as often as Raymond does. When a player falls down so often you can create a drinking game, that's a sign the guy needs to work on his core conditioning, or get a different type of skate or type of blades, or needs to go a skill camp and work on his stance and stability.

Yes it's sick seeing these threads repeat I agree with you there.

The OP has a good suggestion to place Raymond at center if he can win faceoffs or play center after the faceoff is dropped. He is good defensively and that is the only reason we have kept him this long. The reality is he needs to step up his game at the NHL level or play in Europe where he can be a superstar. We have waited long enough for him to develop. We also should reap the rewards for our commitment to his development. I hope Mason understands that.

Raymond gets points by being a pure winger. His 2010 season was entirely 2 plays: Kesler getting deep and feeding the puck cross ice to Raymond and getting a nearly empty net, or Raymond shooting from sharp angles with surprisingly good effect. That's it. Raymond's play dropped off because Kesler's play dropped off and he didn't quarterback the 2nd line playmaking. He also had a less effective shot which left less rebounds for Mayray to swoop in and jam into the empty net. A winger without a dynamic centre is going to be stuck just going up and down the ice. Booth suffered the exact same fate last season and no one seems to have clued in to the common denominator.

If Kesler regains his form, MayRay and Boothy will be racking up goals.

The only solution for Raymond is the obvious one here guys and that is to drag him through the streets of Vancouver naked and hand out buggy whips to all the kids and have them whip him as he drug by. Then string him up outside of Gate 3 of Roger's Arena as a lesson to anyone wanting to be a Canuck that underpreforming on this hockey team is completely unacceptable.

"Oddly, Raymond had the best Corsi rating on the team last year and again has strong Corsi stats this year. So, when Raymond is on the ice, he may be be falling down alot and losing the puck in the offensive zone, but his corsi numbers show he's also got the puck alot and his defence is suppressing shots against his goaltender. Simply put, his team has a greater chance to score than to be scored against when he's on the ice to the highest degree on the team. A team that is filled with some pretty good players. I assume that's what value he brings and that keeps him in the top 6 or 9."

Found this, thought it was pertinent. Him falling down negates his positives of course.
