I thought it was awesome. At first it looked like the typical CDC Luongo love-in, but upon further reading it became a hilarious well-written backhanded slap in the face. Simply brilliant.

Brilliant? Only brilliant in the eyes of a certain portion of the most spoiled, cynical fanbase in the entire world. Sometimes I'm honestly ashamed to call myself a Canucks fan.

After he's gone, we should commemorate Luongo by erecting a statue outside Rogers arena of him doing a belly flop while a beach ball flies over him into the net.

This is an idiotic post.

Thank you Luongo for reminding us of how crappy the fans are in Vancouver and how nothing will ever meet up to their ridiculous standards. Also thank you for reminding us of how short-sighted our fans are and how any goalie that ever becomes a starter in this franchise must win a Stanley Cup in three years or the fans will cry and moan demanding a trade and criticize every little detail while ignoring any good you do. Thank you for taking us to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and instead of being honored for it, you are continually put down for not winning it all yourself.

It is time you moved on from this ungrateful fan base but thanks for the memories.

The only unproven is Hamburglar !!

I'm semi-proven Roberto Luongo fan, so this is not a factual statement.

Until recently, and more or less today, I still err for keeping Luongo. After all, he established his place in Vancouver from his first playoff appearance, and then immortalized it when he helped lead team Canada to Olympic gold on Canuck ice. But since he wants out of Vancouver and for all it's worth, has had personal issues affecting his game, it's probably best to move him. My only request is that Canucks receive maximum dollar for this trade.

Man, watching some of his great saves during his tenure with us makes me so nostalgic, I became a fan with the WCE era, but Luongo turned me into a diehard dedicated fan.

When this team was above average Luo was spectacular.

When this team became very good Luo had his groin history plaguing him.

Luo was a great player for this franchise.

I will miss his humor and emotions and those games he seemed to be near perfect.

It's a good thing you were not targeted for bumping up an old thread.

Regarding the topic, yeah, I'll miss him too. He provided some moments during his tenure.

My number one reason...

Every time we played an important game... every time we played a power house team... anytime we were battling for a conference lead or division lead... he ALWAYS STEPPED UP. Playoffs and regular season... the fact that people say hes a choker makes me want to stab them until they have a slow painful death.

One more reason actually... game 7 vs hawks. Biggest save in the history of the game on sharp. He doesnt make that save Canucks fans can never hold their heads up high. We owe all our pride to Roberto.

Yeah, good thing. Maybe when you're a mod you can put a stop to all this nonsense and delete every thread that hasn't been started by you.

Kesler was lucky to score 20 this year since the injury to Morrison allowed him to do so.

I doubt Kesler would ever break 15 goals in his career again.

Luongo can't hear you offer that to him because, he's got a Jennings trophy ringing in his ear.

I laughed. You forgot about his fan fave awards. P.S. the Jennings is a TEAM trophy.

I want to thank him for dealing with all the bullsh!t everyone throws at him, both deserved and undeserved, and responding to the hate with nothing but support to Schneider and no sign of resentment to us.

I want to thank him for giving us a chance to win every game. I doubt many forwards see Luongo and think, "I'm putting this one in easy".

When he's dialed in, there is no better goalie in the world. I'll miss chanting Luuuuu.

I will not miss the flip side of his beast mode though, my god can he play terrible.

Buddy I called this EXACT situtation on here two years ago and was flamed, so I guess I have a bit of hockey knowledge, not to mention the 4 years I played in the OHL idiot.

The conspiracy theories that used to be against Lateralus:

He's a choker.
Game 7 vs the Hawks never should've even happened. We had a 3-0 series lead, Luongo melted down in games 4 and 5 and gave up the OT winner in 6, gave up the shorthanded tying goal in the dying minutes of 7.
Biggest save in the history of the game? Really? Personally I dont even consider it the biggest save in Canucks history. I'd say it is second to Kirk McLean's game 7 OT save in 1994.

It depends on whether it's a playoff game or not. The forwards from Chicago and Boston probably think that way.

- He stopped the revolving door of bad goalies after Kirk McClean left, provided some stability finally
- Got Vancouver excited about hockey again after the Naslund era
- Helped Canada win gold at the Olympics... in Vancouver!
- Was an excellent regular season goalie
- Was an absolute work horse most of his tenure here, starting in at times ridiculous amounts of games.

Thanks Luongo.

If I had to choose one memory to remember when I reflect back on Luongo, it was that time he took a puck to the throat, spent the entire night in the ICU at the hospital, then started for us the very next day and got a shut out. I think that really exemplified how much he cares about the Canucks winning and what an amazing work ethic he has.
