The franchise takes a step back if they are just after a salary dump. At least Columbus fans are smart enough and patient enough to realize that Nash is worth a lot and would rather have him play there than trading a Corvette for a pair of well used Ford Escorts. The only time that you would consider a salary dump is if you are way over the cap or an opportunity presents itself which allows you to grab a couple of superstars for next to nothing and you need to free up cap space. If Luo starts the season in a Canuck uniform and the games are shared between the 2 goalies, what is the problem? So we have 2 top notch goalies...is that a bad thing? I can tell you what is a bad thing....you trade Luongo to another team for next to nothing. The other team ends up being much stronger and we are left with a collection of 3rd and 4th liners and no farther ahead then if you kept Luo. I would believe our capologist and Gillis will figure out other ways to get us under the cap.. I'd much rather give Ballard away for nothing than give Luongo away for nothing... How could they not go for that?? Wait I have an EVEN BETTER plan! I'm going to make a thirteen hundredth Lu trade post on CDC with my original idea! Why not Dave Bolland (plus Seabrooke and Toews and a 1st rounder)?? He only publicly insulted our organization and it's players, no big deal! Bring him in he's the second coming of Jesus! I say we hang on and keep someone who actually has playoff experience. NO offence Cory but he has only played like 3 games in the plaoffs. NOt to mention he has never had the pressure of a no 1...Not to mention if we deal Luongo can you imagine the pressure Corey will have now?? Luongo is big shoes to fill...I think he would crack... mperoni101 Posted July 16, 2012 Author Share Posted July 16, 2012 won't be a salary dump to Florida for spare parts - if you think the Canucks would send Luongo to Florida for b or c rate roster players and take back more salary than Luongo's cap hit, I think you'll be disappointed by the actual price - won't be the Chicago option or another western team - will be Lu to Florida for a young center and blueliner, something like Matthias, Petrovic, and a 2nd. If the Canucks were to miss out on Doan, I could see the possibility of one guy like Upshall being included as part of a deal, but if they do land Doan, it will be young players exclusively imo.
