After his train wreck playoff performance i would dish Edler in a Weber trade in a heartbeat.

I still can't believe they gave Green all that green.

i like Green and his offensive gifts but defensively he is not even a top 4 pairing.

Greens contract = :picard:

I like Edler, I hope he doesn't get traded or wants to much cash. I love him, except for his bad performance in the playoffs.

Edler isn't going anywhere they will resign him long term. He may then be very attractive in a trade package. How do i know he will resign? because of his swedish surrogates.

Nashville needs to replace 2 top d-men if they trade Weber as they already lost Suter.

If we were to be offered Weber in a trade then my thinking is Edler would be the first piece of a package of player/prospect/picks going back the other way.

Green isn't a top 4? What planet do you live on? So you think he's a 5th or 6th defenseman after being nominated twice for the Norris and having two 70pt+ seasons? Injuries aside, he's a top 2 easily.

I sure hope that Edler can stay, if he doesn't ask a crazy amount of money.

I could see him going to Detriot though.

they say it because defenseman that are comparable to him, better than him, and even lower than him are signing big money contracts.

I think that this topic belongs in Proposals. I doubt that the Canucks will just give up Edler. The only way that Edler will get dealt is if he is bringing a big fish to Vancouver. I wouldn't think about trading Edler twice if it meant bringing Weber to Vancouver.

This topic belongs in a trash bin.

I don't understand all this talk about trading Edler for Weber. They are both UFAs this year, so getting Weber would only guarantee having him for this year. What makes you think he would sign after that? Even if he did, what would the price be? I think Edler would be more likely to sign with Van and his price would be much less.

Yes, he had a poor playoffs this year, as did the rest of the team. Hopefully his broken fingers will be rehabbed and he will return to his beastly form.

I don't think the Canucks can offer that contract to Edler with it not being considered an insult.

If anything he will be offered at least 4.5-5 million anually with adequate term but if Edler seeks a payday, Gillis has tough decisions to make. If Edler takes the hometown discount, the Canucks find themselves with another sweetheart contract.

If Edler wants big bucks, I find it hard to believe that Gillis will oblige him considering his willingness to part with productive players who aren't willing to take the discount (pure speculation of course since we don't know what is going to happen with the CBA let alone what's going on in Edler's head). If the money is indeed what Edler is shooting for, the foreknowledge of his intentions are vital to Gillis; he can either trade Edler or risk another Ehrhoff situation.

The CBA will have a huge impact on Edler's negotiations, but no matter what's decided during those meetings, when it comes to the Swede's future as a Nuck, the ball is in Edler's court.

We need to hold onto him or if he is asking too much money we could use him as a piece in a Weber deal.

Yes I do think it likely he takes the discount but being a popular opinion doesn't mean it isn't pure speculation. Personally, I will be relaxed about his situation when the contract is signed.

I just recently upgraded my cable. I have a channel called toonx. I have been watching spiderman from the early 90's when I get home from work. It's amazing! Reminds me of cartoons before elementary school! Xmen is on too! But I work nights and never get to watch it.
Now
What does this post and this thread have in common?
They are both stupid and pointless.

Man did the fan base ever turn on Edler fast. He has his best season to date, but starts to lose steam at about the last 15 games and the playoffs and BAM. I start to see threads declaring that he should be shipped off for all kinds of things. I don't wanna lose Eddy's shot after losing Salo's shot. Granted we have Garrison who has a lovely shot of his own, yet i still see a lot of value with a player with Edler's shot size and hitting ability...Edler just needs to go zen, talk to the now retire Lidstrom get some pointers and focus on finding his center

PS if with the new Bargaining agreement there is an amnesty clause for one contract, so the Lightening dump Ohlund's contract and we can resign him for a home town discount. That way we have added depth in our D as well as some one who can keep Eddy where he needs to be

True. But he'd want to play with all the Swedish guys, be part of that history. I could see it, I definitely don't want it to happen but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

Eddie is easily worth 5.5.-6 million / year easy. The hard question is if he is worth that much on the Canucks? Yes and no I guess.

He had 1 bad playoff series and suddenly he's a playoff no show? I guess the other 90% of our team are playoff no shows as well if we're going to base that off of the LA series.
