21-pound lobster caught off coast of Cape Cod

Back in the day there used to be lobsters that big all over the place. They just don't live long enough to get that big all that often anymore. And being that old, even if I did like eating giant bugs, I can't help but think it wouldn't be a very tasty one.

And of course, back in the day people would agree with me. Once upon a time there were so many lobsters out there that it was considered food for the lower classes who were the only ones that would wade into the water to scavenge the giant buggy scavengers of the sea.

In North America prior to the twentieth century, local lobster was not a popular food. In the Maritimes, eating lobster was considered a mark of poverty. In some parts of the Maritime provinces of Canada, lobster was used as a fertilizer for farmers' fields, and a great deal of lobster was fed to slaves or the lower members of society.

How's it taste?

It's kind of bland. I think the people that really like it are mostly just into butter.

Mind you, I think my taste buds are melted (I for example find non wild salmon to be super bland) and what people consider super fishy I consider about right.
