Serious question, what is the definition of a breakout season? I mean, what are the prerequisites to be considered? Like Tavares, did he have too good a year last year to be considered a candidate to have a breakout season this year? At what point does a player have 'too good a year' to be considered a candidate for a breakout season the following year.

May be thinking too hard with this one, but this kind of question always seemed a bit odd to me.

OMG we could've had McKeown!

I think Virtanen was a terrible pick given that he's out for 6 months which will hinder his development. You don't pick someone at #6 under that circumstance, along with the fact that he was given a 3/5 IQ (aka he's dumb).

God dammit Benning. WHY VIRTANEN? Terrible move.

Down by the River - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

there is no way the hodgson trade takes over the neely trade as biggest mistake

Nothing will come close to trading away Cam Neely. Hodgson being dealt for Kassian isn't even in the same zipcode.

I expect a big season from Jordan Eberle, although I dislike the Oilers.

Sorry, but I strongly doubt Hodgson is going to be anywhere near as good as Neely, and Kassian will be much better than what we got in return in the Neely trade.
We might not have won the deal, but it was not a mistake.

Chill. I said it will go down as "ONE OF" the biggest mistakes - Not "the biggest" mistake. I think we can all agree that the Neely trade is the most lopsided. Calm down, kids.

Who's Hodgson?

The guy who scored the GWG against the "must win game" of the Canucks' regular season ;)

Colin Wilson will break out

Feminism will be outlawed. Mostly because it's a backwards idiotic viewpoint that doesn't serve any real progressive purpose.

If either Byfuglien realizes that he's hurting the team being on defence or Noel grows a pair and forces him on forward, then I could see Bogosian having a ridiculous breakout year playing alongside Enstrom. He has a cannon of a shot but has never been paired with somebody who can pass well, and Enstrom is one of the best playmaking defencemen in the league.

I'm going to go with John Tavares. He's had a few great seasons, but he could easily lead the scoring race this year.

He needs better players to play with. Nino Neidereiter needs to break out and play on the first line, not sure if Strome can play wing.

I think Jordan Staal will have a great season in Carolina when he gets top 6 minutes.

Hodgson had his breakout month already.
The breakout that he should be concerned most with is breaking out of his own zone - gotta play a little d if you wanna breakout.

I swear, people are going to waste more energy following Hodgson and praying for his failure than they will following the Canucks and wishing for our success

Who really gives a damn about Hodgson?

He has some nice offensive tools but it ends there. His defensive game is atrocious, his skating is mediocre at its highest potential, and from what I've gathered his attitude stinks. Give it a rest with the endless lamenting about how trading Cody was the worst decision the Canucks ever made. Kassian is a beast and he's actually a Canuck unlike a certain other person I've been talking about.

Prove that you're actually Canucks fans and seriously STOP crying.

NYI I think will be a break out TEAM & surprise a lot of the league. Tavares will lead the way and make his name in NYI.

Break out players I agree with the list but I would add Kassian and believe he will be put in a position to succeed. He will surprise a lot of Canuck fans who doubt him but like Coho and Tanev I think he will have some games with the Wovles then around 2nd half of the season to Playoffs we will see him more consistently.

Taylor Hall could have a serge of a 2nd half of the season and Eberle will probably carry the load while he recovers. Which I believe Edmonton will be a better team then Calgary if those two have a solid season.

Can't wait for the season begin and we can watch all these guys flourish! Woooooooooooo!

Trading Hodgson will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the Vancouver Canucks franchise. We all know why he was traded and that relationships were tarnished. His dad didn't help matters either. But I still feel there could have been another way. I hope I'm wrong on this. I hope Kassian doesn't flop like a dead fish.

You really that high on Hodgson, eh?

Time will tell, but I have good vibes about Kassian. I think he will develop just fine.

With Roy being traded, hodgson is pretty much their number one center( or ennis). He's going to gets loads of mins and pp time with vanek, pomminville etc. I could see 65 points easily from coho. Do I care anymore tho? No. To hell with him and his dad and agent

Kassian will flourish here. He will be fine. A rare commodity.

Lets see how he does when he's actually playing instead of sitting i the press box.

Pretty sure his breakout year was last year man.

Yeah, but this guy's sayin' that he'll win the Art Ross. That's a breakout season compared to his last.

I'm not saying he will win it, but I'm thinking he could easily be in consideration next year...meaning top three?

I don't know. I'd compare Eberle to someone like Jonathan Toews. Great player that does pratcially everything but won't necessarily rack up huge points.

Sorry, but Neely takes the cake. Bigtime.

First of all, he's freakin' Cam Neely. Not some papa's boy pantywaist.

Second, local boy Cam Neely. Not some some eastern prck.

Third, yeah we traded Cam for some immediate vet help that declined right away. Kassian is not immediate vet help. Long term, he might pan out quite well.

And lastly, to think trading Coho, a forced trade, was the worst trade in Canucks history, is simply not knowing Canucks history.
