Kings player Drew Doughty, who was investigated by Hermosa Beach police in connection with a sexual assault allegation. The allegations date to March 1, when a 25-year-old woman met Doughty at a bar near the Hermosa Beach Pier. She turned down a proposition from Doughty in front of several teammates, police said. They took a cab to her home, where she accused Doughty of raping her. The woman reported the incident to police the same day. According the filing declination, the woman told police the two had consensual sex a few months prior to the incident. She said that during the second incident, Doughty never threatened her, but that he had "intercourse with her against her will." Detectives told The Times that they asked the woman to call the hockey player while they listened, but she refused. He said the woman has been “less than cooperative” and that the district attorney’s office and police have “found credibility problems.” Doughty was the second overall pick by the Kings in the 2008 draft. The Canadian defenseman missed almost all of training camp before this season before signing an eight-year, $56-million deal that made him the team's highest-paid player by average annual value. He had two goals and four assists during the Stanley Cup Finals, along with goals against St. Louis and Phoenix en route to the championship series. The article states very clearly in the first sentence : That doesn't mean it didn't happen, it just means they didn't have enough evidence to charge him and get a conviction. Nowhere have the authorities involved said the girl lied or fabricated anything. Some of the comments in this thread are just plain, flat out, disgusting.
