BI3KSA-
PAUL HOLMGREN IS AN IDIOT AND EASILY THE WORST GM IN THE NHL!!!!!!!!! Sign Bryzgalov to 51 million who now looks like a bust. Trade Carter & Richards who now have stanley cup rings. Now you give up 4 1st round picks LOL. Granted Shea Webber is good he's not worth 4 1st round picks. What a f****** joke. mpt
Guys. Nashville isn't going to Match this. There has to be something else involved. Weber and Homer aren't that stupid. This contract will be frontloaded so hard Nashville wont be able to match. And as I said https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC Source #2 confirms this
Ghostsof1915
Bigger question, does Gillis need to start negotiations with Edler if Weber is off the market next year?
Bieksa's Quote
Assuming Nashville doesn't match, both good and bad news comes out of this from a Canucks perspective. Pro - Weber leaves Conference. Con - Philly gets stacked and is a potential roadblock to the Cup, even if we go all the way to the Finals again..

Dion Phaneuf
http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2012/6/26/3117738/2012-13-NHL-Restricted-Free-Agencyrfa-compensation-table-offer-sheets Ok, so Dreger said 'upwards' of $100M. I would be 4 - 1st round pick compensation if the deal was $119M or more. So if it's under that amount, then compensation is only "Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd" as per article. Gillis has a 1st rounder next yr and could get one in a Lu deal. Yowsa. But as some have said, Weber can still demand a trade next yr. But if he signs an offer sheet and Nashville doesn't match, isn't he bound to that 14 yr contract starting next season? What's going on in the world today. Millerdraft
Maybe MG tried to sign Weber to the same offer sheet as Holmgren and Weber sees exactly what you do. So he chose Philly who have a very bright window with lots of young stars on the roster mixed with a bunch of veterans.
stawns
The future in Vancouver just died a little, imo. Window has two to three years left and then it's '07-'12 Edmonton time for the next five years.
rkoshack
He's a RFA right now. $1,110,249 or below - No Compensation Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 - 3rd round pick Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 - 2nd round pick Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 - 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 - Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd Over $8,410,976 - Four 1st Round Picks http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2012/6/26/3117738/2012-13-NHL-Restricted-Free-Agencyrfa-compensation-table-offer-sheets AAV of $7.14 million, so two 1st round picks, 2nd, and 3rd. Not bad. Why didn't MG do this?
Watermelons
any idea what the internal cap is? this is a different situation.......it is Nashville star player........I sure owner can do something to prevent this.....

Grapefruits
How the heck are you people so fast Not a fan of these long-term deals at all. There are very few players who can sustain a certain calibre of play for more than a few years where they're in their prime. To be locked in for anything more than 5 or 6 years is insane IMO
UFCanuck
I doubt MG offered an offer sheet. He cares to much about what the other GMs think about him. He is not one for the bold move.
