Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger

I'm told a number of teams were in on a possible Shea Weber trade. If Preds don't match, they receive 4- 1st round picks as compensation.

Wow if I was a Preds fan I'd be hoping for them to not match. 4 1st rounders is sweet

WOW!! what an odd time to announced/be released too lol. I can't see the Preds not matching tho.. Still thinks this pretty much means we have no chance at getting Weber now tho.

There's no way Nashville won't match this. They simply can't not match it with the departure of Ryan Suter.

Pbbly front loaded at $12 mill per year for the first 3 years. Weber had no choice but to sign long term now. Either he does something like this or loses out on millions of dollars because the next CBA will ban these types of contracts.

I guess I'll have to change my profile pic soon.

Edit, on top of the front loading I bet there is a huge signing bonus, maybe close to $15 or $20 mill. Thats the only way it would deter the Preds from matching it.

Yeah, I honestly think I'd let Weber walk for 4 first rounders, on top of their own first rounders. Weber is great, but it does free up a lot of cap room to find a replacement somewhere

If the Predators were trying to ship Weber out, he doesn't want to stay. THEY WILL NOT MATCH, THEY'LL KEEP THE 4 1STS.

It could be Shea Weber's ploy to get a lifetime deal with Nashville.

8 first rounders would certainly give the preds a lot of leverage in a trade to replace him.

Yeah, Poile is probably super happy that Weber signed the offer sheet, if they match then Weber is a Pred for life. I'm surprised Weber even signed it if he doesn't want to be in Nash.

Wow. Is it possible that the Flyers might have some info that this is outside of Nashville's budget?

If they really wanted Weber WHY would they make this offer when it gives Nashville the chance to insta-match and ruin their chances of ever getting him?

I may have made an error on compensatory picks. Depending on aav, it could be 2 firsts, 2nd and a 3rd round pick if Preds don't match.

Sucks that we won't be getting Weber but no matter how good Weber is, I wouldn't want to give away 4 1st rounders for him.

I would if it means landing him for life at 7 mil cap hit that goes away when he retires... Weber is the best D man in the game right now and is exactly what is missing on the Canucks to bring home a cup, we need a #1 D man in the worse way. To regain youth in the system you could trade Edler as he'd bring back a huge return. Kinda disappointed we didn't make an offer, we need to go all in and 4 late first round picks for Shea freaking Weber is doable.

FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

This makes no sense.... the Flyers just did Nash's negotiating for them.

Even if Nash wants to trade him they can match and then trade him next year for more. So stupid.

This is a dumb move by Weber if he wanted to leave NSH.. the cap hit is not very high and the chances of it being matched is likely.

could be front loaded in a specific year to an extent nashville couldn't afford I'm sure they did their homework before sending in the offer

Yeah pretty sure the cap hit had to be 8mil+ for it to be 4 firsts.

With that kind of return, I'd expect the Preds to match.

OK, I'm freaking out here and can't think clearly. WHY would he sign an offer sheet if he wants to leave Nashville? If Nash matches, he's there for life.

Does he have some sort of knowledge of Nashvilles budget, then he talked to Philly about it? Can he even legally talk to Philly??? So confused. Help.
