I can only assume that he is going to tell Nashville that he doesn't want to play there so that they don't dare match and end up with an unhappy player.

I don't know about that, Joe Sakic signed an offer sheet with the NYR but COL matched and Sakic was happy in COL. Its all about the $'s. NSH pbbly wasn't willing to pay this much so Weber signs offersheet. If NSH matches he stays and continues to lead the team.

No reason not to match really. 4 1st rounders isn't that good of a compensation for Weber, if those picks are coming from a top-team like Philly. It won't be top 10 picks exactly.

Holmgren are screwing both Philly and other teams that were really interested in Weber.

No other way to say this, but to say: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOOLLLLLLLLLOLLLLLL

@HockeyyInsiderr: BREAKING NEWS: Just got a call #Flyers sign Weber to 14 year 110M+$$$ offer sheet. #Preds unlikely to match. #CONFIRMED

@HockeyyInsiderr: IF Poile doesn't match it is towards my understanding that Holmgreen will need to compensate with FOUR 1st round picks. #Flyers #Preds WEBER

What is with everyone choosing to stick with a franchise for life? Crosby is a penguin for life, Staal is a Cane for life, Parise and Suter are a Wild for life and now Weber is either a Pred or a Philly for life. I really want Nash to match because I believe he will want to be traded out of there eventually

Weber has to know that Nash will match it. He must've decided he wants to be in Nashville but wanted a better contract than they were offering.

Pretty solid, would be more solid if Pronger wasn't past his prime.

Nashville GM Dave Poile has gone on record and said he will absolutely match any offer a team sends Shea Weber. Ball in his court.

I so confused. Is it cause he's an RFA?

Any player that signs an offer sheet cannot be traded for 1 year from the day of the signing.

did you see there goaltending last season?....

Ya Bryz was shaky, but with an awesome defence with Weber added and their loaded offence and upcoming young stars, I can totally see Bryz putting up better performances. Stanley Cup favourites for sure if they get Weber. But then again they could trade him, but who would want Bryz?

PAUL HOLMGREN IS AN IDIOT AND EASILY THE WORST GM IN THE NHL!!!!!!!!!
Sign Bryzgalov to 51 million who now looks like a bust. Trade Carter & Richards who now have stanley cup rings. Now you give up 4 1st round picks LOL. Granted Shea Webber is good he's not worth 4 1st round picks.

What a f****** joke.

well he can't be any worse, he was pretty bad last year... but now with Weber he can protect Bryz from all the bears.

How are parise and suter with a franchise for life? they just played for other teams. Some players like a change of scenery and some don't. Some are just cashing in on big contracts before the next cba.

this is outrageous! I know the thought of weber was a pipedream but this contract is bogus esp considering we don't even know what the new CBA will look like. I can't tell if the Flyers panic or if they are super smart?!??

If philly gets weber, those will be very crappy first round picks. Shea weber is worth more than that.
