Lol
How naive are you.

If his price tag exceeds 5.5 mil, Gillis just packs it in and leaves. If you would give a 35 year old as much or more money than Sedins when his production is trending downwards....

I'm just glad you arent the GM.

Buddy I called this EXACT situtation on here two years ago and was flamed, so I guess I have a bit of hockey knowledge, not to mention the 4 years I played in the OHL idiot.

The conspiracy theories that used to be against Lateralus:

I think he'll kill two birds with one stone. He will go to each of the teams he is very interested in playing with while giving Pheonix a bit more time to make him a better offer and give him some assurance the team sale will go through. If the situation in Pheonix hasn't improved by the time he has been to each team then he will announce his decision. By the look of things though I highly doubt he will remain a coyote but I think he is too loyal to walk away without being absolutely sure there is no hope in store for Pheonix.

Mats Sundin could be held responsible for Daniel and Henrik's, and Kesler's, breakout seasons.

We're not going to win a cup with the current roster so MG might have to overpay to put us over the top.

Shane Doan is from Central Alberta. He has BC roots from his junior days and his wife's family but his family is pure Albertan!

Yes but his wife and younger years is when you remeber most so he wasnt born in BC but first step playing alone means he would feel both are home!

win win if doan signs with us luongo trade will happen soon after if doan doesn't sign wiht us luongo trade will still happen soon after... it is very obvious that MG is waiting to see if he could get doan maybe MG and the panthers already agreed to 2 trades one for each situation it might be a big day for the canucks if both the signing and trade happens on the same day

Mats Sundin says hi.

Mats was offered an outrageous contract when we had a tonne of cap space. The two scenario's are totally different in that respect.

It isn't about how much cash Aquilini shells out, it's about how can we make it fit in our salary structure when we're clsoe to the cap.

Mats Sundin could be held responsible for Daniel and Henrik's, and Kesler's, breakout seasons.

Certainly Kesler from playing on the same line, but also leadership and attitude for the Sedins from his locker room demeanor. Doan has some similar qualities but will have to fit within our cap not only this year but for each subsequent year of his contract, so if he asks for too much, as the earlier poster ignored, he won't be a Canuck next year.

I would, he's the piece we need, it's either offer him big money and get exactly what we need, or else walk away and have Raymond in the top 6 and fair in the playoffs.

I would do it anyday, all that matters is the cup, and we have to do whatever it takes to win it. so if we have the cap space, get it done.

While it's possible, he's said his preference is to stay in the West and be closer to home. That means Alberta and BC, along with California (or of course Phoenix).

I'd do it for a one year deal, since we have that ability this year if Luongo moves (or we clear space elsewhere), but when Edler and Burrows are due raises next season we could be potentially left handcuffed as if Sundin had accepted the original 2 year deal.

Doan wants a few years, so we can't offer the moon - especially with it being a +35 contract.

How naive are you if you think are current team is good enough to win a Cup?

The only thing Doan costs is money and cap space. Which we have.

3 years @ 6 per year.

The Nucks need him as a mentor to show hwo to play with heart and not dive and whine your way to success.

Sundin helped Kesler be a better player, now he needs Doan to teach him how to play like a man!

I see Doan as someone who woule read the riot act in the dressing room if guys were pulling some of the embarrassing garbage we saw against LA last year. He's also big enough and mean enough to back it up!!!

Exactly! Doan would probably be THE BEST investment gillis could make for this team personnel wise. Doan WOULD make this team an even better contender than we were two years ago.

I'd even be inclined to go 6.5 per year for 3 years just to get him.
