WHL rocks
MG will wait until he gets the right deal. If it means waiting until the trade deadline when the likes of Burke are desperate so be it. Bujgstad and Mathias would be awesome additions to our team.

Pears
the Province once again doesn't really get it. I like Sean Bergenheim, but suggesting that he makes more sense than Bjugstad is pretty uninformed - the last thing the Canucks need is another left winger. Doan is exactly what the Canucks need - if Doan doesn't sign in Vancouver, who are the right wing options on the Panthers (or Leafs)? A young center and a right handed blueliner (Petrovic) make the most sense - perhaps not in the first two months of the next season, but for the future - and the need for an immediate upgrade to the third line center or top six is over-stated - Doan would be great, and another NHL ready center likewise (if not Bjugstad, Matthias makes more sense than Bergenheim) but regardless, the Canucks have lots of viable options. oldnews
Agreed about Bergenheim, the last thing Nucks need is another small/average winger. According to capgeek, Floridas natural righties = Versteeg, Upshall. Toronto = Kessel, Kulemin, Frattin. I also think a righty d-man and/or C make the most sense - based on Friedmans reports of what Gillis wanted at trade deadline. Garrison filled the immediate need of a righty d-man, though I'd think Gillis is still looking for another. A centre makes the most sense IMO. oldnews
I think we could really use Bergenheim. He's super clutch in the playoffs and would add some much needed grit to our third line. To Vancouver: Sean Bergenheim + Shawn Mathias To Florida: Roberto Luongo + Mason Raymond + Manny Malhotra Sign Doan to $6.1 a year for 3 years Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Kesler - Doan Bergenheim - Mathias - Higgins Kassian - Lapierre - Hansen Edler - Garrison Hamhuis - Bieksa Ballard - Tanev Schneider Lack/UFA back up

adniel_g
If Luongo goes anywhere, it won't be TO. They have junk and are underpaying on top of that. Saying MG will wait till the trade deadline for Burke to get desperate is ridiculous because the only thing TO has of any value is their draft picks which are likely to be high even if Luongo goes over and Burke would be crazy to give those up for an older goalie considering TO is rebuilding? (who knows what they are doing). All the more giving up first round picks at the deadline is pointless for a guy like Luo who is money in the bank for the regular season. Dont think Tallon would feel heat into the season; for Florida its just a matter of what direction they go, got some great upcoming talent. If they pass on Luongo, they'll build around another position. Making the playoffs for them certainly is not as vital as it is for TO. So I dont think anyone is gonna get squeezed into the season, MG knows this and thats why Luongo will be traded before after a bit of compromise from FLA

yogolol
You forgot Malholtra, who has a no-trade-clause. So he will be on the team weather you like it or not.
djsandwiches
Luongo + Ballard + Schroeder (or a 1st) 4 Bjugstad, Campbell, 2nd rounder or Lu + Raymond + Schroeder 4 Bjugstad, Matthias, 2nd rounder get ir done MG!
MikeBossy
Proposal after proposal on here always involves Raymond - when will people realize HE HAS NO TRADE VALUE at this point. If he has a great pre-season and lights it up in the regular season then he might regain what value he had before last season but please quit trying to pawn off players like Raymond in deals for other teams blue chip prospects /end rant
Pears
Are you serious.... A third liner and another potential second or third liner for an All-star goaltender, a former 25 goal scoer, and one of the best face-off men in the league? I'm happy you aren't the GM. stawns
Are you serious...look at Bergenheim's playoff stats, he's an excellent third liner as well. And Mathias is 24 and will only get better. Also, if we want to give Doan a reasonable contract, then we have to unload some salary. If we have to change Bergenheim to Bjugstad.
