Rumored or highly speculated due to the BC connection?

UFA and trades are also 2 different animals.

None of the three I mentioned were trades.

If you're going to make a distinction between rumour and speculation, then I'd say your grasping.

I have no idea what point you're trying to make with your last sentence.

The only people who think the later is true are those butthurt about not winning game 7 of the stanley cup final. Get over it: 29 teams a year don't win the cup.

Yeah, but 29 other teams dont have a 2-0 series lead in the Final and then choke on it.

All I'm saying is don't believe everything you hear FLA is linked to Vancouver through speculation.
And does this thread really needs more arguments?

Who cares, relax

Fair enough but I also miss Mueller.

Fleischmann
Mueller
Huberdeau
Goc
Matthias
Do they still have Smithson as well?

Weiss is anything but untouchable, they may rather move Fleischmann but Weiss isnt off the table by any means. If anything they need to open up a center ice spot to get Huberdeau in there.

Spot on ! +1

Do you think when luongo came out and said its time to move on he was using the media to tell MG to get something done ASAP? Or atleast before training camp. It would be quite awkward if he had to come back.

Huberdeau will make the team this year and Fleischmann is also a natural center who can play the wing. Mark Santorelli should be better this yaer as well after a tough sophmore year.

If any GM on any team with Stephen Weiss considered him "untouchable" then that team is in a whole world of hurt. Hes an average 2nd line player on a good team. That should never be considered untouchable. Its like calling Booth untouchable...

LOL Totally average.

It's possible. Although I don't think it would be as awkward as people make it out to be. Luongo and Schneider are professional enough to let the media roll off their shoulder and focus on playing their game. Something will happen but its beginning to seem like Gillis isn't finished evaluating the team until the Doan situation has concluded.

I wish people would figure this out. Neither of those guys is going anywhere.

However, it's not all bad news, the Panthers are well-stocked with very good prospects. IMO, Gillis needs to hold the line at Bjugstad. He has to be part of the deal. (although not the only part) Bjugstad and Petrovic would get the deal done for me.

Bjustad is going back to School so who knows when and if he signs to play pro hockey. If we sign Doan then I would do it,,,no Doan then we need someone that can play now.

Latest on the Panthers/Luongo Saga

Posted Image

Okay so here's the latest after speaking to a source last night.

The Panthers have agreed to move Nick Bjugstad to the Canucks IF they include Schroeder and a 2nd. Deathly afraid of losing any depth, HOWEVER a Luongo deal looks more and more unlikely as the days go by as Gillis hasn't even spoken to Luongo or his agent recently and a few teams that were interested (Chicago, NY Islanders, and believe it or not Ottawa) have dropped negotiations with Gillis because they're tired of waiting on Gillis and his high asking price. Gillis wants whoever takes Luongo to absorb more cap in Ballard.

Further with the Panthers, after losing out on Wellwood they feel 100% confident moving forward with Huberdeau in the lineup next season.

I would move Schroeder and a 2nd for Bjugstad. I assume that this deal in no way involves Luongo then?

Interesting, but that would likely mean Bieksa or Edler on the 3rd D pairing with Tanev. Let's face facts, Campbell would play with Garrison, and you're not going to put Hamhuis on a 3rd pairing, so that's still a $4+ million contract on the 3rd d pairing.

On the other hand, having Campbell would be awesome. DO IT!!!

I'd take Campbell only if his cap hit wasn't so high. But on the positive side

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - Campbell
Edler - Tanev

Those are all #1 pairings. I don't think Florida will want to take Ballard back though.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I just want this trade to happen already. I heard there are several trades on hold until Doan signs including a possible Luongo trade, so I think Doan should lower his asking price and sign somewhere already!

I assume that deal would for sure have to include Luongo , Schroeder has not developed in to a NHL player yet and is showing why his draft value dropped and was available for the Canucks to take

I would like to see a deal somewhere along the lines of Luongo, Schroeder and a 2nd for Bjugstad, Ellerby and a player like Matthias or Goc. Florida has a surplus of centres and Ellerby seems to have fallen down their depth chart. I think it fills a couple of needs now and for the future. Bjugstad is the future while Ellerby and Matthias/Goc are for now. Ellerby would be near the top of the depth chart for Vancouvers defensemen prospects and we could insert either centre into the line up immediately.
