Wow! Great deal for the Rangers. Nash will flourish in New York, good for him.

Rangesr were interested in Nash long before any of this weber thing started.

Note I said "something worthwhile".

Ownership must have put some pressure on Howson for him to accept what is basically the Rangers' earlier offer and not wait for them to buckle and give him Kreider or more picks.

Thank God Gillis isn't going to rush and do something stupid like this.

Sather must have drugged Howson or something.

Nash has never had a playmaker as good as Brad Richards. He's going to light it up this season.

This is a terrible return. That pick will be worth very litte, and they got very little in players. Nash may be overrated but he should have gotten more than that.

So basically it would have been Raymond, Kesler, Tanev and a first for Nash?

I wouldn't be happy in Columbus.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

Haha NHLSourcesSay reported that the 4th piece was McDonagh.
A minute later Dreger reports that it was, in fact, Anisimov

Further proof that these rumour guys are just taking wild guesses

Bad trade for CBJ imo. Could have gotten a lot more than that for Nash

What would be our equivalent to that trade had we tried for Nash?

Burrows + Higgins + Tanev + 1st?

I'd probably pull the trigger on that!

From the value of those players. It would be Booth, 1st round pick, Jensen and Connauton straight up for nash.

Howson should be fired on the spot.

I agree. Howson's patience with this did not pay off as teams just found other ways to spend their cash. Old adage is the team that gets the best player wins the trade. Columbus gets some depth but where is the potential star for them?

I'm gonna guess, Dubinsky plus maybe Anisimov or Hagelin, a prospect and/or a pick.

I was pretty close on my guess :)

Honestly, it's not horrible. All the players they took back are young - Dubinsky is a 50 point guy, Anisimov is talented and should be capable of being better than he has been, Erixon looks good, and a 1st round pick.

He wanted 2 roster forwards, a prospect, and a pick. That is what he got.

Courtesy of HFBoards' Columbus Blue Jackets section:

biggest trade in the history of our franchise and it was a colossal fail....

idk what to think

I'll take it. Wasn't a huge Nash fan to begin with. Hopefully the NY fans can light a fire under his A$$.

terrible. if this is the final deal, what was the holdup?!?

This deal is a flaming bag of dog doodoo.

Anisimov? SHOOT ME NOW.

Ugh. Depression setting in.

Contemplating fan free agency.

I don't love it, but I'm happy this club has a new beginning.

Nash as a franchise player didn't work, and it wasn't going to work. Glad to see that the team is finally going to shuffle the deck, even if we're going to be pretty bad till 2014.

I guess Howson was a little resentful that Edmonton won the lottery and got Yakupov.
Perhaps he wants to better increase his chances by tanking even harder.

Sather with the Robbery!

Dubinsky, Anisimov, 1st, and Erixon.

Steal. All pieces were expendable.

This deal is good for the Rangers. I think Nash's contract prevents it from being a 'steal' IMHO .

I think Howson could have got more than this but its not the worst trade in the world and the Blue Jackets can move on finally.

I'd say Hansen + Burrows + Sauve + 1st
