Ktakatch
20 lbs lost is very good, he'll prob shoot up once he builds some muscle mass again which is how you do it. Lets look at one of the bet PWF to play game. Iginla.. is he 230? no hes cut at prob 200ish hard to knock off the puck, quick enough to avoid a defender and very skilled. a big heavy guy is too one dimensional, not saying its bad but having different aspects is better. Also I saw some guy say that you need fat to get to the 240 range. Hes 6'3 and could easily be at 230 below 10% body fat, just takes hard work which he is obviously doing. Being heavy doesnt make you hard to knock off the puck, being strong and agile for ur size does.

BananaMash
ok first off, why do people bitch and moan so much on here. Its a wieght cut, you loose the wieght to get in better shape and as season goes on you put it back on, plain and simple. not hard to understand, all players do it, just not to same extreme, and im sorry Kas fans, but he looked sluggish after the first 5 games, and lost. Im pretty sure the Pro's no what there doing from the player to the nutrionist, so cool your jets
CanucksFanMike
Three aspects of an elite power forward: - skill - physicality - speed Obviously Kassian has physicality, now he has better speed, and the skill will come as he gets used to the NHL game
Opmac
Jeff Angus is puling stuff out of his ass trying to pose as an insider again. Zack Kassian was 214 pounds last season according to Canucks.com. If he did shed 20 pounds, he'd be 194 pounds. ESPN (it seems like they're more accurate) says he was 210 pounds. That would mean he's 190 pounds. Connauton
He's trimming off fat and during the season will build more muscle. Pretty common routine for any one that works out actually.
Opmac
210 - 20= 190. The numbers could be wrong, and he could have put on weight once the season was over.

BananaMash
Haha, my bad. Fixed. But you get my point. Kassian was neither slow nor overweight last season hence the unbelievability hat he lost 20 pounds.
riffraff
Some of you honestly know nothing about how workout programs usually work. For most, you do periods of cutting (dropping fat) while maintaining most, if not all, of the muscle you had before. Then you start putting on muscle. It's usually done in cycles. If he drops twenty pounds of chub, and can skate faster, but has the same amount of strength, his hits will be bigger than before with the added velocity. He'll put on muscle throughout the season also.

BananaMash
Not true F=ma If either the m or the a is decreased but the other increased the F remains the same. However a leaner muscle mass results in a higher metabolism and more efficiency in training. Allows the body to build muscle mass quicker and recover faster as the body processes proteins faster....in a nutshell.

Jagorim Jarg
power (watts) = work / time work (joules) = force * distance force (newtons) = mass * acceleration I wonder what canuck has the highest watt generation. How many lightbulbs could the whole team keep lit.. Haha
Rounoush
Nothing quite as intimidating as, "I've lost 20 pounds! Grrrrr!" First the shave, now this. Soon he'll have his gap permanently filled too. (If that's not already done.) We're taking this supposed 'untamed beast' of a player and turning him into another generic clone. I remain unimpressed.
