logic
Ladies calm down, you trim off the fat then build weight by muscle building.
surtur
Well 20 pounds is 20 pounds. That 20 pounds makes him harder to knock off the puck or clear from out of the crease. I get the whole fitness thing, but I thought he was a good skater for his size already. Bertuzzi was 245 and built like a freight train. Fat is not always a bad thing if you can move. Hopefully he can gain another 10 in muscle.
DreamHerO
I thought muscle weights more then fat... if he gained more muscle while losing weight... what O_O
KoreanHockeyFan
He's cutting and then he's going to bulk up, calm down everyone...no wonder I barely even go on the "Canucks Talk" section.
WEEWILLY01
no matter how much weight he drops he'll still be a pylon. What a bonehead move on Gilligan's part!!!!

DeNiro
He will be much more explosive with the loss of 20 Lbs he is 21 by the time he is 25-26 he will probably mature into a healthy 240-250lbs or more. also like you said bert was built like a freight train he was big and strong not big and fat.. like Lucic (sp) thick and solid not thick and soft. Kassian is a strong young player and will only get stronger.
justathought
Agree with above, drop the slop then start to build muscle mass. He's going to surprise a lot of people with size, speed, stregth, hockey ability and hockey sense. He will be a force.
BananaMash
Some of you honestly know nothing about how workout programs usually work. For most, you do periods of cutting (dropping fat) while maintaining most, if not all, of the muscle you had before. Then you start putting on muscle. It's usually done in cycles. If he drops twenty pounds of chub, and can skate faster, but has the same amount of strength, his hits will be bigger than before with the added velocity. He'll put on muscle throughout the season also.

etsen3
Wouldn't be surprised if the weight loss actually helps him become stronger, more physical, and tougher to play against. You can have a sumo wrestler on your team, but if he can't keep up with anybody, he can't hit. He will probably have more speed and stamina now which will help his offense and his hitting. It's not like he becoming a tiny shrimp, he's still big, but he can move around faster. 20 pounds will make a huge difference to his quickness. Rhinogator
I guarantee you Bertuzzi wasn't all muscle at 245. You need fat to reach that weight unless you're Chara size. It's like a linebacker. Those guys have huge bellies, but they can move like the wind. We'll see how it works out though.

BananaMash
This..about the 3/4 mark of the season he should be 220-225.
Owen Nolan
He'll also be easier to knock off the puck weighing the same as Booth. All he needed to do was work on his speed a bit. It was already pretty good. They didn't need to transform him into a lightweight. It's not as easy to add mass during a season because you're doing so much cardio from playing so much. That's why the offseason is for bulking up.
DeNiro
Doesn't make sense at all. Muscle weights heavier than fat.
