Kumquats
The Referee God must be in USAs corner again as two potential penalty kicks in the US penalty box was not called. A hand ball was not called and a Japan player was pulled down with no penalty given.
Bertuzzi Babe
Not only was she pulled down, the US defender had her arms wrapped around her and Solo drove her knee into her.

Common sense
In case anyone's interested: Christine Sinclair suspended four games for Olympic incident Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair has been suspended for four games and fined $3,500 for an incident at the London Olympics. FIFA, the sport’s governing body, opened an investigation into undisclosed events after Canada lost its semi-final against the United States, a 4-3 loss marked by questionable calls from Norwegian referee Christiana Pedersen. FIFA’s disciplinary committee was to weigh the case last Friday. According to a release distributed by the Canadian Soccer Association on Friday, Sinclair was being punished by FIFA “for displaying unsporting behaviour towards match officials after the match.” Sinclair has stood by comments she made after the loss in London, including this one: “It’s a shame in a game like that that was so important, the ref decided the result before it started.” FIFA has not made it expressly clear which incident it was investigating, and whether the comments had anything to do with it. Peter Montopoli, general secretary of the CSA, declined comment when reached by phone on Friday. Sinclair did not immediately return a telephone message. “No further information will be available from the Canadian Soccer Association or media interviews granted on this decision until such time as those reasons for judgment are received and reviewed by the Canadian Soccer Association,” the release stated. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/10/12/christine-sinclair-suspended-fined-four-games-for-olympic-incident/
drdeath
Seems a little steep but it's not like FIFA can publicly bash Christina Pedersen. As long as we don't see her at any more major tournaments we'll know this was worth it.

oldnews
Cowardly decision by FIFA. They chose not to suspend or discipline at the time - under the spotlight - for good reason - the official stole the spotlight and in all likelihood changed the result of what was otherwise a classic game. The appropriate time to make a decision was then, face the scrutiny and questions of their accountability, not attempt to defer to an more opportune time, ie wait until they think no one is watching. Revisiting this at this point is extremely weak and the optics of it just make the whole episode even more suspect. p.s. very impressed by the women's performance regardless - what an outstanding effort - and if anyone earned the right to speak her mind, it was Sinclair. "Unsporting behaviour" FIFA says....ironic.
RUPERTKBD
So I'm not really up on the rules for this... Could Soccer Canada arrange for some international friendlies and have Christine sit them out, so she doesn't have to miss anything important like WC qualifying? BTW: I still think she did the right thing. If you roll over and play dead on garbage officiating, nothing will ever change...
