Eklund - http://www.hockeybuz...-Canada/1/45767

I suspect it could be the Leafs as they are desparate, and maybe even the oilers.

The Stars have roughly $15M in cap space to sign Benn. There is no amount that they won't match -- unless it's a ridiculous 14 year, $110M contract.

I think if a team wants to get Benn with an offer sheet would have to be 5.5 - 6 million. Even though they have the cap room I think the stars management have a soft cap internally on how much they are willing to pay a player and average cap hit. This is a team that lost about 38 million last season and close to 100 million over the last three.

I suspect that they would match anything. Same with Winnipeg and Kane.

It's Subban that might be available. I didn't ever picture him retiring a Hab, certainly.

A Subban / Luongo deal would suit me just fine, TOM!

Hahahahaha Eklund is awesome!
Philly signs Weber to an offer sheet. Big headline!
Now genius Eklund checks who else is notable RFA and at the same time creates a rumor!
And sheep's bite!

On that note, ALL the pseudo-insiders like this guy and Hockeyyyyinsiderrrr missed out on the Weber offersheet AND the Nash trade.

This is why Eklund and his clones should all be considered invalid sources.

Yes, Eklund can 'entertain' us through his bs, but at what point is being randomly misinformed considered to be no longer worthy of re-posting?

imo Eklund has past his expiration date long ago. It's time to abandon him as a so-called 'valid source', even with the understanding that he just spews bs.

HockeeeyyyyInsssidderrr is just an Eklund wannabe. And then there's SamJam...

actually HockeyyInsiderr named three of the 4 Ny Rangers players in the deal to Columbus 2 weeks ago.

HockeyyInsiderrr posts a rumour every five minutes, so he's got his bases covered. Problem: He didn't post anything when it actually happened, so that makes him a multi-guesser, not an insider.

do you actually believe that when teams negotiate a trade that every proposal and every name involved in these talks actually come to fruition?

But speaking of a guy who likes to pull sh*t out of his @ass, look at this rumour:

Rumour_Express@InsiderLegit

Canucks and Dallas are talking a trade involving requiring Jamie Benn's rights. Names involved are David Booth, Mason Raymond, Keith Ballard

Rumour_Express@InsiderLegit
Schroeder, and high picks. Will keep my followers posted.

Um, no. I also don't believe that reading hockeyyinsidderrs tweets will do anyone any good.

I've browsed his tweets awhile ago out of curiosity. Jeez, what a bombardment of bs. I suppose there is entertainment level as it opens up 'what if' discussion. But how that is better than a random trade generator has yet to be determined. Well, not random. More like a series of half-decent guesses.

But hey, if the guy wants to claim he's an insider based on that his guesses don't have to be verified, good for him. He's been repeatedly roasted by legit insiders.

https://twitter.com/...061628961718274

I'd be willing to bet he wasn't the first to do so though. I'm not going to look it up but here's a recent example of how he piggybacks off of other people's work:

1 hr before dreger:

@HockeyyInsiderr: Mark Fistric signs 1 year- 1.45M deal with #DallasStars and avoids arbitration.

Dreger's first tweet was 10 minutes difference. And it's not like a Dallas reporter didn't beat them both to the punch:

Mike Heika

@MikeHeika

Covers the Dallas Stars for the Dallas Morning News.

Stars and Mark Fistric. Agree. Avoid arbitration. One year. $1.45 million

Hm, @HockeyyInsiderr's cap hit matches @MikeHeika's. Hardly an insider source, rather a reporter covering the team for the local paper. Dreger tweeted his initial mention 20 minutes after Heika's and 10 after HI's. Perhaps he actually went and checked with his sources to try and confirm? Considering he's on vacation, it seems about right he might post the full details an hour after they were released (by a different source from HI, albeit with incorrect numbers).

Maybe I should create an anonymous twitter account and just follow all the beat reporters I can for every NHL city so I can beat Darren Dreger to the punch while he's on vacation.

Stop using @HockeyyInsiderr saying he was right first. He doesn't really break any news, but is either speculating (or outright lying) or essentially retweeting other valid sources. Find the valid source he's piggybacking off of or use a more common source like Dreger.

LOL! So did TSN and, pretty much, the Rangers themselves, both at the trade deadline, and at the draft. And if my math is correct (divide by 2, carry the 7), that was long before "2 weeks ago".

Even though this probably is BS, Benn somehow make sense. He's a winger but he's capable of playing center too, so he can fill in when Kesler is injured. He's the Powerforward we don't have, and he's from BC, and we all know that Gillis really like BC players. And Gillis has said that he wants to get younger.
I can see Gillis being intrested in Benn, especially if we don't get Doan. But he will probably cost a lot more than this guy claims is on the board. Don't think Dallas is too keen on letting Benn go either, unless it would be something special.

Don't know who the hell Bob Stauffer is, but he's apparently saying the same thing.
http://hfboards.hock...13#post52905813

Then again, Bob was thinking it was Calgary and a poster notified that Calgary didn't have their 2nd round pick to put a offer sheet.

Edit: Bob apparently updated, thinks it's not happening and Eklund is bogus.

It's too bad. Actually might make sense for the Canucks to make Benn an offer sheet. Too bad, Dallas would match everything, though a 1 year - 14 million Weber type contract might be fun to watch.

Canucks trading ballard
matthias+1st for Lu

Canucks will offersheet Benn if trade doesnt work
Doan says canucks are #2 on his list after NYR (nash signing influenced him)

Ballard pursued by Dallas/Detroit.

Holy man...

If this guy was credible, would be intense. But he's not so..

I actually could see Vancouver submitting an offersheet for Benn. Isn't Dallas one of the teams Doan is seriously considering if Phoenix is on the way out to Quebec City?

Force Nieuwendyk to choose one or the other. Makes sense to me.

This would actually make sense.

Canucks have a particular set of needs: youth/size/skill/toughness

Jamie Benn fits the bill in every aspect.
For those who care, he's from Victoria as well.

Now, Dallas would most likely match everything..up to 6.85 or whatever, where the 4 1st round picks are compensation.

Lets say Canucks trade Luongo to Florida for Matthias/someone else + a 1st.

Yes we would lose OUR 1st rounder next year (and 3 years after that) but we would still have floridas. So we actually give up 3 1sts, and get a Star Player in Jamie Benn.

Would be amazing, to say the least.

No point. Dallas would match and then Gillis would just make an enemy.

Dallas doesn`t want picks. They just signed a bunch of vets in order to be competitive this season.
