The Colorado Avalanche are happy to announce a trade with the New York Islanders.

TO NYI: R. Klesla

TO COL: A. MacDonald

GM H2 had a brief comment. "We would like to thank Rusty for his service to our team. We would also like to welcome Andrew Macdonald to our team! We believe that this deal is really good for us. We get a younger defenseman who can provide a little more offensive from the blue line while still being solid defensively. We also save close to $2.5m a year for the next two years."

The San Jose Sharks have agreed to trade Brent Burns to the Winnipeg Jets in return for Tobias Enstrom, Mark Scheifele and a 2013 3rd Round Draft pick. Agreed to and in queue for Commissioner Approval.

Thorton, Marleau, Havlat, Handzus, Boyle, Murray, Stuart and Niemi OTB. Expectations for a return on Pavelski, Couture, Demers are all high. Going younger, so I'd need a good package back.

I'm going to do my 30in30 right now because I'm bored, and because the order is already scrambled.

New Jersey Devils
Last seasons record: 48-28-6
Points: 102
Finished: 4th in Division, 6th in Conference

Potential Line-up:
Elias - Zajac - Van Riemsdyk
Winnik - Grabovski - Henrique
Smyth - Zubrus - Josefson
Bernier - Carter - Gionta
--------------------------------------------
Larsson - Zidlicky
Volchenkov - Tallinder
Greene - Fayne
--------------------------------------------
Brodeur
Harding

In: Grabovski, Van Riemsdyk, Winnik, Smyth, Harding
Out: Kovalchuk, Salvador, Clarkson, Parise

Key Prospects: Jon Merrill, Eric Gelinas, Scott Wedgewood, Stefan Matteau, Alex Urbom.

2011-2012 Season: In the season of 2010-2011, things were not good for the Devils. It was the first time since 1996 that they had missed the post-season. The 2011-2012 season for the Devils had hopes for the better. Despite Travis Zajac being out for majority of the year, the Devils played quite well. They had 3 30 goal scorers in Kovalchuk, Parise and Clarkson. Elias and Sykora played major roles and each had a big season. The Devils transformed into quite the offensive team after the coaching change to Peter DeBoer. While Zajac being out was unfortunate, it allowed for the emergence of rookie Adam Henrique. Henrique played a Calder Trophy kind of season(as he was nominated for it) and they marched their way back into the playoffs avoiding missing it for the 2nd year in a row. They clinched 6th in the Conference finishing the season on a 6 game win streak. The Devils had a playoffs to cheer for. They were down 3-2 to the chippy Florida Panthers and came back to win it in Game 7. In Round 2, they faced a Philadelphia team who dominated the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite being counted out by most, New Jersey lost Game 1, then won 4 in a row to head on to the Rangers. Again as the underdogs, the men in red and black were down 2-1 in the series against the #1 team in the East and won 3 in a row to head to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Los Angeles Kings. The Devils went down 3-0 in the Finals but they did not quit. They became the only team in the playoffs to beat LA 2 times. Eventually they lost in Game 6 to the Cup Winners in a 4-2 series deficit.

Off-season: The Devils had the 29th pick in the draft picking center Stefan Matteau. Parise was the top free agent of the year and he wound up signing in Minnesota. That was a major blow to the Devils. They decided to make a bold move and move Ilya Kovalchuk to the Maple Leafs for forwards Mikhael Grabovski, James Van Riemsdyk and a 2013 1st Round Pick. This would better balance out the roster with the huge loss in Parise. Not only did they do that, but they shipped off Clarkson to the Wild for Josh Harding and Torrey Mitchell. The acquisition of Harding would give Harding the starting job he's worked for that he couldn't get playing behind Nik Backstrom. With Brodeur's eventual retirement, Harding will surely take over. After that, they would ship off Mitchell right away for Daniel Winnik. This chippy forward is something the Devils had their eyes on. Not too long later they would acquire Ryan Smyth and send Bryce Salvador the other way. An exchange of 2 veterans.

Break-down: On Forward, The Devils added the young skill of Grabovski and Van Riemsdyk. JVR is a big forward who is still young with lots of potential. The Devils wanted more size and they got it. Obtaining Josh Harding will have him split time in New Jersey with Brodeur, until Marty decides to move on from playing hockey. Adam Henrique will have an even bigger role on the team this upcoming year, as the Devils ownership expects him to fill much of the void left by Zach Parise's departure. They expect Adam Larsson to continue to grow as a beast on the blue line and become their star defender.

Summary: While they are not considered the best in the East, everyone can always expect the Devils to be in a playoff spot. They've made their mark in the NHL with their Cup wins and are always expected to make the post-season. Although, trading away their superstar Kovalchuk can give them some struggles, they have a more balanced line-up. Expect the beginning of the season to have ups and downs as the new players find their roles.

Vancouver Canucks
Last seasons record: 51-22-9
Points: 111
Finished: 1st in Division, 1st in Conference

Potential Line-up:
Sedin-Sedin-Hornqvist
Higgins-Zetterberg-Setoguchi
Torres-Ott-Kassian
Volpetti-Lapierre-Weise
--------------------------------------------
Weber-Hamhuis
Hjalmarsson-Garrison
Falk-White
--------------------------------------------
Schiender
Emery

In: Hornqvist, Zetterberg, Setoguchi, Ott, Torres, Weber, Hjalmarsson, Falk, White, Emery, Garrison
Out: Burrows, Kesler, Booth, Malhotra, Hansen, Raymond, Salo, Rome, Luongo, Edler, Bieksa, Alberts, Tanev

Key Prospects: Schroeder, Jensen, Lack, Suave, Connauton, Rodin, Gaunice

2011-2012 Season: Despite winning the Presidents' Trophy in back-to-back seasons and going to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, the Canucks are expected to make major changes under the new general manager, Burke. After suffering a disheartening defeat in the first round to the 2012 Stanley Cup champions L.A Kings. Burke is committed to finding solutions to the holes in the current rosters and addressing the needs which the Canucks need to raise the Stanley Cup.

Off-season: It has been a busy off season and Burke is among one of the busy general managers. Many deals have been made; both blockbuster and depth. Burke has been explicit in wanting to resolve the goalie controversy: which after signing Schneider to a 3 year 12 million dollar extension then trading Roberto Luongo to the rival Chicago Blackhawks, it seems the issue is indeed resolved. Adding some experience in Ray Emery as the current back-up, giving young goalie Eddie Lack a chance to continue development. Burke wanted to get younger and bigger--this was clearly addressed in acquiring players like Torres, Ott, White, Falk and perhaps the biggest deal of the off season, now team captain Shea Weber. Burke knows his teams position, and their window for winning the Stanley Cup. Burke was willing to part ways with draft picks to add scoring depth. Burke seems to have addressed this need as well, taking the pressure off the Sedins, with adding two other Swedish players: Hornqvist, whom will start the season with the Sedins and Zetterberg.

Break-down: Forwards, the Vancouver Canucks in recent seasons have depended upon the Sedins to put pucks in the back of the net, this will not change; however, Burke has added more scoring talent. Hornqvist was an interesting an unexpected move, who came over in the Weber block buster. Now having a full Swedish first line it will be interesting to see if Hornqvist can click with his fellow Swedes and score 35+ goals. Burke in recent weeks made another significant trade adding Zetterberg, which is arguably an upgrade from Kesler. Zetterberg, although not as defensive as Kesler, is known for putting pucks in the back of the net. In addition, Zetterberg will be playing with newly acquired Setigochi, another talented scorer. Expect Vancouver to be scoring 4+ goals a night! The bottom six in the Vancouver line up may not be able to score at the level, which the top six can; however, they are big and mean! Every team will be keeping their heads up when now playing against the Canucks. Something which the Canucks lacked in their recent playoff runs. Additions such as Kassian, Torres and Ott will allow the Canucks to be tougher; yet, still be able to score with the top six forwards.

Burke did not stop here, adding a lot of new faces in the defensive part of the team. Perhaps the most crucial was adding hometown hero Shea Weber, a Norris Trophy finalist. The addition of Weber adds that big body, and big shot on the Canucks' blue line and that top caliber defensemen. Beside Weber will remain Canuck's Hamhuis, who still has multiple years on his contract and who played with Weber in Nashville. A powerful top pairing defensive line, which can compare with any other NHL team. The depth does not stop there. Adding Garrison will help replace the slap shot on the power play, which Salo had. Hjalmersson, and White will add some reliable support to the team. Justin Falk, although young is another significant move. A giant defensemen with a lot of upside. Burke was pleased to get this guy, adding not just size but youth to his defense core, after having to trade super Swed E-Larson.

Finally, goaltender Cory Schneider is perhaps the biggest question going into the season for the Canucks. Can he take over as number one? After Burke chose Schneider over Luongo; after signing Schneider and trading Luongo, there is a lot of pressure on the young goaltender to put up a lot of wins, even though he has experienced netmineder Emery who can play 25+ games if need be.

Summary: The Vancouver Canucks should easily be able to be in the running for a third Presidents' Trophy and a serious cup contender. Burke was prudent in being active this off season as many other North West Division teams were equally busy, improving their teams to make a push for a playoff spot. The Vancouver Canucks should be able to score a lot of goals, granted their main core stays healthy. They should be able to shut down a lot of top lines with Weber and Hamhuis on the back end. The Canucks will not be getting pushed around, and every team will dread seeing the third line of the Canucks come out; consisting of Torres-Ott-Kassian. However, the big question will be Schneider. Can he be their number one? Also, how will Burke handle the tricky salary cap ahead of him, having Weber's contract now on the books and having Zetterberg's contract long term as well--how will Burke approach the Sedin's who are due to be FA in two seasons. Early speculation has Burke looking for a one year extension around the same cap hit. If a deal cannot be made given a certain time frame, Burke, with his trigger finger may make a blockbuster deal to move the two Swedish elites.

Early Predictions: Vancouver Canucks

48-27-7 103 pts

1st in the Division
2nd in the Conference

Deep playoff run.

Basically whoever is the best at playing the game is going to be top in the standings. The only reason I'm trading is to acquire players that I like playing with and to use them according to my style. There are a few guys here who I know are good at NHL 12 and I expect them to be at the top for this.

DEVILS VERY INTERESTED IN SPEED. I'm looking at you Raymond, Grabner, Cammalleri, etc.

I'm not in this league, but how many games do you actually play in a play league. I can't imagine you have to play all 82, so how good your team is on paper should matter to some extent since most games are simmed.

lol you guys are hilarious.

a) you dont know how EA is going to alter the players overall.
B) you dont know if everyone is even going to be online/pick up the game at the same time.
c) you are dealing your STARS before you ice the lineup.

this is my secondary account for jonnycanuck46, but still im not going to deal until the game is set up. just get to know your teams before you trade all the players.

Well, they're dropping like flies....

jonnycanuck46/Bane both gone.
