I know we all want Doan and pretty much every team wants him. But would we prefer to wait to maybe get a chance at Jarome Iginla? Iginla is a UFA next summer, and will no doubt be the most sought out after free agent next summer. But if the Flames realize he won't re-sign with and will test free agency, they would most likely trade him at the deadline depending on their position in the season.

So the Iginla door is open. But would you guys prefer to go for Doan now or wait for Iginla? There is no doubt we all would rather have Iginla on our team. Iginla and Doan are very similar players, but Iginla with a much greater offensive upside.

But are the chances not that good that we can land Iginla via trade or free agency? I don't see Iginla being the player that is just going to look at the money and go to a big market team for a chance to win. I think Iginla will want to play for a Canadian team. I don't see him going to a team like Philly, Pitts, Detroit or NY.

I just can't see Iginla coming here after being a Flame for so long lol, but who knows.

And just cause he's canadian doesn't mean he'll want to play for a canadian team, Nash didn't

I dont know if we could ever get Iggy out of Calgary anyways . I find Doan a small chance and Iggy no chance. It would be great if we got both!!!

Flames fans would have even more reason to hate us. :bigblush:

But no, he'll retire a Flame, and I doubt he'd go to a division rival after being a Flame his entire career.

We should definitely go for Doan now. Hopefully his ties with BC and Gilman, as well as being a Canadian team contending for the Cup is enough to convince Doan to sign here. We can't say that for Iginla.

Iginla doesn't seem like Nash as in he wants to go to a big market team and just go to a stacked team.

But yeah seems like a long shot we get Iginla, but I think he won't want to re-sign in Calgary if they have another missed playoffs.

I would absolutely love to have Iginla on our team, if for the simple reason that I live in Calgary and would give my left nut to see the look on the faces of several of the Flames fans I work with when I came in to work wearing my Canucks Iggy jersey, but yeah, it would never happen. Iggy would be my preference if I had the choice between him and Doan, but I sure wouldn't mind Doan either.

both would be a great addition. But I doubt it is going to happen.
it is a matter of cost vs profit. I think our GM is playing the business game, and not willing to spend too much to get he needs.... profit!!! Who care about cup, when you are making money...

I think he will be resigned before the end of next year....or traded to a team that will sign him. I have doubts that he will be a UFA.

Everyone is saying he will retire there...but i guess no one has seen his interview. He said he wants to leave teams when his contract is up. He also said he wanted a chance of winning before he retires.

It is a matter of cap space. That is one of the worst theories I have ever heard. Canucks spend as close to cap as they can without hurting themselves in case of injuries. You might want to read up on Canucks history before making asanine posts like this.

Well I think Iginla would be the 3rd most sought after UFA, the 1st 2 would be Perry and Getzlaf. Most likely, none of those guys are coming here. The 2 under-the-radar guys I'd want would be Stephen Weiss as a 2nd line centre (move Kes to the wing) and Ryane Clowe as our 3rd line center.

As for Doan, I'm not so sure signing him would be a good idea. He'd command atleast $5M, which would put us over the cap, and in order to get below the max, we'd pretty much have to give Lu away for nothing. Also don't forget that Burrows and Edler are UFA's next year, both guys we need to sign and will command a hefty raise, so need money for them too.

really wouldn't mind it if Doan signed here, I think with someone with those leadership credentials can really help keep the team in line and focused on winning rather than going back to stupid diving and complaining again. As well, he brings size, hitting, skill, play making to the 2nd line and I doubt that he would be one (as an ex-captain) to disrupt locker room chemistry but he can step in and do some leading to support Hank.

Really hope that MG can pull out the stops during his visit in the Canucks' facilities and reel in this big fish.

Way too paranoid about the salary cap, dear god. There is always room if the guy makes sense and fits in the team.

You're right. The salary cap is all just in our imagination.
