BOSTON (CBS) — The mayor of Boston generated a bit of a buzz with his letter damning Chick-Fil-A and its stance against same-sex marriages, but chances are Bruins goalie Tim Thomas is about to generate a whole lot more.

Thomas, currently beginning his one year away from hockey, posted to his ever-controversial Facebook page on Thursday afternoon, offering support for Chick-Fil-A amid the national debate on the fast food chain.

“I stand with Chick-fil-A,” Thomas wrote. “Chick-fil-A is privately owned by the Cathy family. The company president, Dan Cathy, drew the wrath of gay rights advocates and supporters when he made recent statements that some have alleged are anti-gay.”

Thomas then quoted Cathy, who said he supports “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,’” Thomas quoted Cathy from The Ken Coleman Show. “I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”

In the past, Thomas has used his Facebook page to offer statements on his decision to skip the team’s White House visit, to explain his decision to step away from the sport for a year and to share historical quotes and passages.

On Wednesday, Boston mayor Thomas Menino drew national headlines for his letter to Chick-Fil-A, in which he wrote, “There is no place for discrimination on Boston’s Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it.”

The Chick-Fil-A controversy began after Cathy made his statements regarding marriage. Its intensity grew after the Jim Henson Co. decided to pull its Muppets toys from the restaurant, leading to a social media frenzy to ensue over the past few days.

Tim Thomas is just another dumb redneck Tea Party member. Guess what the Tea Party isn't the party of the working man its the party of the Koch brothers who are attempting to purchase the US government (more than it already is) and dumb, ultra religious, socially conservative rednecks are the most easily confused/influenced.

Thomas aside, Cathy's statement has to make one shake his head....

Yes, you're inviting God's judgement on the nation by allowing two men (or two women) to get married.

For some reason though, God is just fine with 18th and 19th century slavery, the invasion of Iraq, bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Guantanamo Bay, atrocities in Vietnam and the Phillippines...
