FYI

Religion had nothing to do with 9/11

The US government defends Israeli interests.

Israel have been torturing and murdering the Palestinian people for years, after invading their country.

The US also controls and defends middle eastern financial interests. They defend those interests with deadly force.

9/11 was about money and power, not religion.

Is the mayor going to request the Bruins trade him now?

Is any team going to accept any trade involving his coming to its organization?

I don't think it's that, I think it's because he doesn't tolerate someone having the same rights he is entitled to, which he probably takes for granted each day.

Its not about a viewpoint, it is discrimination.

It would be like saying the voting booth is no place for women, or the back of the bus is where black people should be, or animal cruelty is just fine because God gave dominion to man over animals. All these statements are false and based in lies as is what Thomas has said here.

Well stated

I have to say, all of the people saying "Shut up, he has a right to his opinion" are hilarious. Everyone in this thread has a right to their opinion too, so quit telling them not to voice it.

It's no big surprise that Tim Thomas is against gay marriage, but it doesn't bother me, there are plenty of homophobic people out there that I'm free to ignore. He only hurts anyone who is close to him that might be gay. Any friends in the closet, any relatives, any former classmates or teammates or coaches or .. and so on so forth. Those people are going to look at this kind of statement and they are going to be hurt, and he won't even know or probably care or even think about it.

Another good thought.

Kudos to Timmeh for continuing his trend of having a spotlight directly on him :picard: Shut the **** up and concentrate on hockey. If this is what you've taken a year off for, because you actually think anyone really gives a DAMN what you think on these issues, I'd strongly suggest you go back to your day job.

Apparently, we do, since we're talking about it right now.

...or are we talking about whether people are born gay or not. Help me out, CDC thread hijackers.

Yes, Tim Thomas has the right to voice his opinion. As an American citizen, he has the right to give his opinions. However, as he makes these statements public, people have every right to challenge his opinions. Those of you saying "it's his right so speak, leave him alone" are hilarious. So he can have his say in a public forum like his facebook and nobody can challenge him on it?

And while he's not so-called "hate-mongering" he is promoting prejudice. Yep, I said it. It's prejudice. Denying another human being the simple rights and freedoms that he enjoys every day is prejudice. There is no difference between racism and homophobia in that they are both forms of prejudice and intolerance.

You may debate all day whether people are born gay, or if there's a gay gene, or if homosexuality is a choice. The point, why does that even matter? It shouldn't. Denying someone basic human rights based on one's sexuality however, should matter.

Some of you have also noted that those here denouncing Tim Thomas' views as intolerant, are intolerant ourselves. I will admit it, I am intolerant of anyone who believes themselves superior to anyone else for reasons of race, sexual orientation, religion etc. If we were never intolerant of prejudice and hatred, where would we be now?

What if humanity had never stood up for the rights of women, of black slaves? What of religious freedom? You claim that calling out bigotry is to be intolerant in itself. You may call it whatever you want, but those who attempt to deny others their rights and freedoms don't deserve tolerance.

Ephesians 2:7-9

"That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

I think just because a majority of people think Gay Marriage is wrong, doesn't mean it should be considered so. People all have their own personal lifestyles, and IMO, I think in this case, a majority shouldn't have to decide whether this is right or wrong. If two men or two woman want to get married, let them, it's their choice, and it's not hurting anyone.

Thomas then quoted Cathy, who said he supports “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,’” Thomas quoted Cathy from The Ken Coleman Show. “I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about.”

Man chill out! I pray our generation eventually legalizes this everywhere. If a man loves another man, and wants to get married, that's his choice, and the rest of society shouldn't decide that for him. Just because "you" believe it's wrong doesn't mean their love life should suffer... stay out of it. If you believe the "traditional family" marriage is the way to go, fine, that's your choice, no one's pestering you about it. That's the way it should be on both ends.

Thomas needs to shave off that porn stache if he wants to go into politics. Why sit out a year when he can just retire now and focus on politics because that is clearly where his head is at.

If he's so upset about gays ruining the meaning of "marriage" then I'd love to hear what he thinks of the abundance of actors who stay married for a few days before calling it quits.

If anything, that's defacing the institution and integrity of being married, not a loving homosexual couple who may even love each other more than most heterosexual couples where divorce rates are so high.

I'd love to heckle him about this in person, have him punch me, and sue him for that Conn Smythe. (Can you do that? Of course you can it's the USA!)
He'd end up in prison where he'd be the sexual plaything of a one Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell.

Lol. So if I was a white supremacist and paraded around the streets giving my point of view towards black people, would you be applauding me?

No suprise here, Thomas embodies everything that is wrong with the US. Guns and God. I truly believe Thomas and his right wing ilk are on the wrong side of history, and we'll be regarding them in the following generations the same way we regard slave owners today.

The bible also says that slavery is good. Don't take that precious book of yours too seriously there Timmy T.

I hate when religious nuts pick and chose what they want to believe in the bible.
