Why would you buy out a guy in his last year of his contract? If you didn't want him then put him on waivers that way you would not have to carry any portion of his contract.

canucks have been thinking outside the box - and using manny as a defensive zone faceoff specialist... leaving our top lines for more time in the offensive zone. yeah it was a bit of a dissapointing season for him, but he is still effective as a shut down guy, not to mention a huge part of the locker room. keeping him around to train our centres is worth it, let alone buying him out.

FACT - canuck fans are embarrasingly ignorant on hockey, and throw players under the bus constantly... this fan base is the laughing stock of the league.

Look for Manny Malhotra to have a bounce back year and return to form. Good thing the person who posted this is not the GM, you don't just buyout players for having a mediocre season after a major injury.
