How do people know where Moore will sign. There are hardly any Canucks/staff even left from the old regime. If the money was right im sure he'll sign. I'm guessing he would be way more opposed to signing on the leafs or wings or Zurich.

The sad thing is 9 people have "plussed" his Kesler thread. Pasific Coluseum=Panic and dump all our centres. His next thread will likely be a Clutch-inspired "Henrik Sedin- do we really need him?"

although I don't agree with the thread, I don't understand why everyone is coming to malhotras defence. especially while everyone is ripping apart Mason Raymond. Raymond has more points in about 20 less games along with a better +/- . to top it all off mason gets paid less and is younger!

People have zero patience...CityinFlames likely said it best up there. But, in addition....

Fact: "With eye injuries, the more I’ve learned about them, there’s a difference between vision and sight. Vision is how your brain reacts to the images you’re seeing and that can take some time to get back to whatever level it’s going to get back to.
“We’re just very hopeful he continues to improve.”

So it seems MG gets it and understands that it won't be an immediate thing. Maybe it won't ever be back to a level needed at this level, but Manny's a player worth at least waiting for before making a final assessment. I'm quite sure he'll help in that, as his professionalism likely means he won't play at a lesser level than what he knows he should be at.

Dominic Moore: brother was a prima donna (as basically described by former teammates) who appeared to have little regard for fellow players. Dominic will have played for 10 teams in 10 years and that says something to me. Sure, a good player but I just question the overall character and how it melds with this team. Just me and my biased thinking in relation to the past, but no thanks as far as I'm concerned. I know he's good, but there are other good players and this one doesn't sit well with me...

"What players need is the right kind of strength and power. That includes learning to understand that leverage and positioning can be just as important as raw strength when it comes to winning battles in the game. It's more about timing and athleticism --and avoiding injury--than it is about how much you can bench press. I don't know how many times I've seen a guy with the physique of a defensive end line up a guy half his size, only to bounce off when he connects. Sure, there is room in the game for big guys who can throw their weight around. But for the most part, players are smart enough to see them coming--and strong enough to protect the puck when they arrive. There are trainers out there who know how to devlop hockey-specific strength--though a trainer can help only if a player follows the program. All too often, I've seen players sign up with the best trainer, but not show up for their workouts and never to reap the benefits."

canucks have been thinking outside the box - and using manny as a defensive zone faceoff specialist... leaving our top lines for more time in the offensive zone. yeah it was a bit of a dissapointing season for him, but he is still effective as a shut down guy, not to mention a huge part of the locker room. keeping him around to train our centres is worth it, let alone buying him out.

FACT - canuck fans are embarrasingly ignorant on hockey, and throw players under the bus constantly... this fan base is the laughing stock of the league.

I think there's a borderline between being intelligent and over-thinking. This seems more like over-thinking. Where were the Canucks before we started getting character players? Oh yeah.... out of the playoffs...

You seem to think getting players like Stoll and Bolland are easy. Those players would be expensive to get given their roles, so how do you propose we actually find these other "non-character" players?

In fact, what defines characters and non-character even? Are you saying that Stoll, Stall, and Bolland are non-character?

While I agree the role players are important we also became a cap team at the same time. I agree with the poster that we have to be a little more stringent on the selection of players. Not everyone can be retained becasue they are a good person.

All of you who are tearing down the original proposal for Malhotra to be gone simply because he's a member of this team, is a good leader in the room, and/or has good defensive abilities really need to start questioning your motives. Who are this team's role players in the playoffs--you know, the unsuspecting guys who are able to make a big difference when the games really count and the opposition is focusing every ounce of energy they have on shutting down this team's top 3-4 offensive and defensive players? Malhotra sure has never been one of those guys, with his total two career playoff points. In fact, aside from Jannik Hansen and maybe Chris Higgins, there really are no other players on this team who can (and have demonstrated the ability to) fulfill this obligation. Lapierre, Weise, Ebbet, Ballard, Tanev, Kassian, Raymond, and Booth are all utterly useless in the post-season, in terms of providing offensive production to take the pressure of the this team's top line and Kesler. Now after considering this information, take a look at just the 3rd line centers of some of the most recent Stanley Cup-winning teams: Jarret Stoll (averages between 20 and 25 goals a season), Jordan Stall (no need to say anything more), Dave Bolland (shut-down center, great agitator, and regular 15-20 goal scorer).

This team, its management, as well as its fans all need to start getting a little more heartless when it comes to making this team better. And before you begin attacking me by demanding that I provide a better alternative than our current roster, I need to point out that my argument is not that there are better options currently available (though, I do believe this to be true), but that the presence of "character" and "heart" need to take a backseat in some situations such as this one. Malhotra will be lucky if he breaks double-digits in total points this season, and with no one else surrounding the Canucks' star players who can chip in--especially when it really counts--leadership qualities need to be sacrificed in order to be replaced with the ability to actually make a tangible difference on the scoreboard.

P.s. I'm not attempting to defend the original idea of trying to bring in Dominic Moore in the least.

Read, you sheeple. ^^^

He'll have a full off-season to train, I'm sure he has thought of this already..

Give him a chance to prove himself, if not he can decide what he wants to do afterwards.

Doing that would make us look horrible as an organization imo.

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler

I know. What are we supposed to do? Buy the guy out  or put him on waivers ?

I think he can still contribute in a limited roll. Hes still awesome on faceoffs ! Lets see how he does !

Contrary to most dissenters... The thread does bring up a problem worth discussion.

Bolting off the ice after a face off won't work that well long term. Means that line doesn't have a chance to do much cause as soon as they get possession one player changes.

Especially in playoffs - u need a player who can win a FO and also play....

We will see - big problem might be confidence and afraid of physical play... Hard to get that edge back when u have that big Q in your head..

Hope for the best, he is under contract so see what he can do - last chance really - hopefully he can play a regular shift again...

He scored one of the best goals we saw last season. I don't think there is much wrong with him that a decent pre season wont fix. The guy is solid.
