As I go longer, his demands get lesser, until I get to 5 years when it starts to go back. I can get him 1 yr/2,8, 4yr/2.6, 6yr/3m or 8yr/4.4. They make you pay for UFA years, it seems. To test, I signed a prospect with good potential to a 1 year/7m deal, then buried him. If I wanted to qualify him, it would have been 7.1m, which is legit, but he asked for a 2 year/1.2 per deal. You still need to manage your cap, but the most important thing appears to be that no one will ask for 13m, and that your prospects won't develop in 2 years and ask for 5m on their next contract.
