Fair play to them for showing that they really really want the cup now, but at his age and what it may cost them, may not be worth the risk. You need young guys to continue to compete in this league. Why not try and get a solid young guy that has yet to reach his potential instead?

I'm not sure if the cost would be worth it (depends what San Jose would want), but anybody would love to have Thornton on their team. He might not put up 100+pts anymore, but he's still in his early 30s and still has a few point-per-game seasons left. He's still probably the best play making centerman in the NHL behind Henrik and Giroux. I just don't see Thornton leaving San Jose, at least for another year or two.

Gillis better do something quick if he wants to compete for the cup. As it stands right now, we don't stand a chance. Most of the contenders have gotten better, while we're virtually the same.

Honestly, what the hell are you talking about? Outside of the Rangers, everyone's taken a step back. Detroit lost Lidstrom, Nashville lost Suter, Philly waived goodbye to Carle and lost out on Weber, Chicago didn't do anything worthy of praise, Pittsburgh lost Staal and Michalek, Boston was quiet all summer, Jersey lost Parise, Phoenix will likely lose Doan, etc. I could go on and on.

and this is why thornton will never play for nyr

the best part of torts rant is that he is right...thornton could very well go down as one the greatest playmaking centers to never win the cup

Mats Sundin takes that honour IMO

Greatest city in the world? Thats comical

Actually, there are two Alpha ++ cities in the world: New York and London. Then there's a big drop off:

http://www.pocketinf...s-2012.html?m=1

Notice that Vancouver is a Beta+ city. Fifth category after Alpha ++, Alpha +, Alpha and Alpha -. Vancouver ranks 64th.

More rain on the parade.

Glen Sather, a cap genius?
The same guy that signed Gomez, Drury AND Redden to their lovely contracts?

Plus one if I had the option on mobile. Sather + cap genius are two words that should never be used in the same sentence unless the word "not" is included, or it's full of sarcasm

They would have to trade one of their top players to get Joe because of salary cap issues...

Thx

Adam Oates has that title locked up and Jumbo isn't coming close.

You think Sundin was a better playmaker than Thornton?

Don't understand why people would want to live in NY and in London, crime rate is massive, because of the enormous population, a large portion is rude and pushy and you must likely have to live in an apartment. The only pluses are lots of clubs, girls and shopping. My home town of Penticton is rated as the second best summer location in the world :bigblush:

If I were them I'll try real hard to sign Crosby and malkin since they're on waivers

Always amazed by how the Rangers are able to continue to take on these huge contracts and then get rid of the player when they stop performing.

Looking forward to the draft and off-season moves. This team needs major changes.

Needs to get more skilled, physical, faster, younger.

No cap space unless they give up all their future to win now which will be a really dumb move.

They will still have no defence and bad depth up front and on D.

IMPOSSIBLE!

Thx
