WE GOT HIM OMGZ!!!!!!!!!!!

.....Seriously though, lets find out where he is
and we'll get 20,000 Canucks fans to surround
wherever the building he is in and make sure he doesn't come out until he signs a contract - I think this would work.

Youre right. This might just work. LETS DO THIS!!!!!

Im not even joking

Feminism will be outlawed. Mostly because it's a backwards idiotic viewpoint that doesn't serve any real progressive purpose.

Dammit....now I want him to sign here sooner!

Good interview, he was ducking and dodging a little when asked about coming to Vancouver to play. Not sure if that's intentional or not.

It's between New York and Vancouver. Philly and San Jose are long shots.

Frankly, I see Doan choosing Vancouver.

I hope so. New York is such a circus and it is really far away from his family. If he wants to win, he will stay as far away as possible from Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

WTF.. They keep extending the lease. It was supposed to expire today and now they extented it another 31 days! I hope it doesn't take Shane this much time to decide.

Vancouver with Schneider as starter and Garrison on defense have gotten younger and much harder to play against. Vancouver has just as much a chance as NY. Moreso considering we were one game away a year and a month ago from winning it all.

I think Shane was saying N.Y. and Philly was incredible just to show some respect to their respective organizations. He has his mind set on Vancouver I can feel it! We might even get a couple of big time deals happen (ie Luongo, Doan) this week! just wishful thinking on my part :P

I really hope the Canucks don't sign Shane Doan.

He's old, his production is decreasing.

Why we would pay above 4 and a half million when Jagr signed for 4.5 million.

We really don't need another old player.

I'm gonna get flamed for this I already know, it's just my opinion.

And also signing someone to a multi-year contract at his age is very, very risky.

Seriously I thought Gilman set up Gillis and Doan at the Kamloops Golf Tournament thing few days ago... Whats up with that?

Older veterans like Sundin, Demitra and Samuelsson did help out with the younger players in our team..also they will bring some 'calming effects' to the lockership.. as well as leadership...

Try to think outside the box for a sec...
E.g. young players just know how to use fomula A+B+C to be successful on all occasion on the ice...All of a sudden, a veteran joined the team and then teach the young players to use A+B+C for scenario 1 and B+C+D for scenario 2 and only A for scenario 3... BAMMMM all of a sudden, young players have more tricks 'STORED' in their memory cells... As a result, those knowledges will eventually translated into success on the ice.

We need a "catalyst" like Doan to help out with our young players as well as our older players.

I think the Sundin and Demitra did work for us but it is hard to gauge the degree of positve effects since those are intangibles...

I say sign Doan to a contact no longer than 3 years @ 5million or less.

As much as i'd like to see him in a canucks uniform i'm highly doubting that he will sign here.

This.

Philly or NYR will throw a ton of cash at this guy. Vancouver can't and/or won't offer him as much. We will be outbid imo.

Sure would be nice to see him here though!

Bang on. Yes Doan is tempting but signing this guy to a 4 year deal is a death-wish. Not only is he old, but his style of play means he won't last much longer than 1 or 2 seasons let alone 4.

Besides, the Canucks have enough top-6 powerforwards and not enough skilled top-6 players. Right now we have 2 purely skill top-6 forwards in the Sedins and 4 powerforwards in Kesler, Booth, Higgins and Burrows. The key to playoff success is having a good mix of each right throughout the lineup, instead we have all skilled guys on our top line and 3 powerforwards on the other. With Doan coming in the balance is even more askew.

Just look at last seasons playoffs. We had 1 purely skilled top-6 forward in Henrik and the rest powerforwards. Not enough chemistry, and we couldn't score. Meanwhile the Kings had the perfect mix of skill and powerforwards on each line, with Richards, Kopitar, Carter, Gagne on the top 3 lines as the skilled players, and Brown, Richards, Penner, King and Stoll. That's a perfect split, ours is not, and by getting Doan we're only getting even MORE one dimensional and easier to defend against.

I have this feeling that I'm going to wake up one morning, turn on TSN, and read that Doan signed a 1-year contract with Phoenix.

Bang on, but its awful hard to remember you need a condom when you are already aroused so badly you canna stand up straight, like so many folks here who think Doana is the second coming of JC .. going to be so many disappointed folks either way ..

If he signs and plays to his ability, he will fail to improve our second line enough to make much difference .. if he dinna sign, then folks will be hurling themselves into English Bay .. hopefully from a great height ..

You said Richards twice and Gagne played 3 games in the SCF for the Kings.

Have you been drinking too many VB's down under there mate? The Canucks currently have 0 power forwards in their top 6. One potential one in Kassian and that's it. Give your boomerang a shake.
