@Canucklehead420. Neither did loungo when he first started as a number 1 goalie and you point is? Trust me you will be eating your words when this year starts.

when he came here he was a well established #1 so I'm not sure what you're driving at.

He'll probably have a great first 15 games, go something like 12-2-1 then really start to stumble.

Young goalies don't deal well with fatigue because they've never been exposed to it before. The first 25 games out of an 82 game schedule followed by 20+ more is comparatively nothing.

I'd rather he play well in the last 25 games of the season than the first.

Cory is 26 years old and has been developed slowly and properly. He is not a young goalie. He might be young in terms of NHL experience but in a way Luongo was too when he first came here. Always playing on a crap team that nobody watched or cared about and never even close to a playoff game. He handled it pretty well for the first while until he was seemingly ruined by the groin and Chicago.

wonder if Schneider can impersonate Luongo?

I hope not. We dont need any more of those 5+ goals against games in the playoffs.

I also hate all those shutouts in the finals. The NHL needs more goals not less.

I'm saying Aladeen a lot because http://forum.canucks...dpost__10922428

I bet when Schneider turns 38, he will have broken all of Luongo's records.

Way I see it Schnieder is way more better then Luongo, hes faster, and his timing is impeciable. Hes agile, and unlike luongo, doesnt flop down on his stomach all the time. I like Schnieder, oh and he can PLAY in big games and not crack under pressure. Stronger mentally, and physically compared to Luongo.

Its refreshing to go into a season knowing that your goalie doesn't require 1 and a half months of practice before he starts to play nhl-level hockey.

Well said!!

I think i've seen Cory play one bad game ever.

I think he'll be solid. Won't be amazing but solid.

his first call-up? he played a few games here and quite frankly they were all quite bad. Although, he was still adapting and developing his game in the minors so we did cut him some slack. If Luongo was in the same position, I wonder if we would have cut him some slack...I doubt it.

If we had Luongo for his first call-up and he had a bunch of bad games I'm sure we would cut him lots of slack. Look at things right now. Luongo has had more blowout playoff losses than Schneider has had total bad games in his career thus far. Somehow people do continue to cut Luongo slack, the hardcore lovers even worship him as some kind of elite goaltending god for some reason.

Really? One playoff win in his career and no more than a 33 start NHL season behind Big Luo says hello.
Cory was groomed. Now he is going into the fire.

As long as he doesn't continuosly meltdown in that fire whilst being touted as a Top 3 goaltender in the world, he'll do just fine here.
