I think it was Bieksa (correct me if im wrong) that said he was the quietest guy in the room, that's just who he is some people are louder and more eccentric than others.

As long as he performs well on the ice you shouldn't be picking apart his interviews

Probably naturally quiet as well being a greenhorn in a room of stars and vets made him even quieter. It could be an intimidating locker room for a rookie.

He's a bit like Edler - always sounds like he'd rather be sleeping and it'd take a lot to get him hyped up about something.

That's a good quality to have as a Dman - always calm under pressure.

Yeah, and that really worked well for Edler this past post-season.

Is anyone else bothered by Tanev's seemingly all cavalier attitude?!?

I've been really pumped on this guys on ice composure and his decision making and with the right amount of work and dedication, i can see him becoming a combination of Hamhuis or Salo. In all his interviews though hes just come across like he's just on cruise control. He doesn't sound like he watches his diet when he needs to seriously put on some weight and while we've got prospects like Zack Kassian whos been training like a beast this off season with Nike and Jordan Schroeder who trains with Zach Parise, Tanev seems to be really just flying solo in the off season. One of our vet d man has got to seriously talk to this kid about his commitment and how your work in the off season directly corresponds to your success during the season.

1. How do you know how he eats?
2. How do you know Kassian and Schroeder are working/training harder than Tanev?
3. Just because Schroeder is training with Parise means nothing to his dedication, work ethic, etc.

Players that want to play in the NHL, work hard, train hard and put the effort in. Tanev has been good thus far, and will only get better.

I like Tanev's composure and his calming attitude, it's alot like
Hamhuis' attitude. Both are studs in the back end defensively...

I hope Tanev can evolve his game even more and chip in a few points
here and there. Would be nice, but as long as he sound defensively
its all good.

he has great composer and is naturally a quiet, relaxed guy.

he does his job on the ice and has the potential to be a really solid NHL dman....

what more do you want?

It'd be great to see him take that next step this season...to adapt that composure into the offensive zone and help create scoring chances.

Henrik Sedin and Schneider disagree.

(but 2 players out of a 20 player team is really sad)

Did you watch the videos where they went and met Tanev?

He specifically talks about how he's trying to gain weight, so he eats every 2 hours. He eats organically because "it gives him more energy", and specifically talks about how its a full lifestyle commitment to get better.

He was told he wasn't flexible, so he took up Yoga to try and increase flexibility (an often neglected fitness metric) as well as make him less susceptible to injuries.

He has nothing but good things to say about Vancouver and his teammates, calling them "first class in how they treat him", but he also loves his home and has a great relationship with his family still.

Yeah, kids got a bad attitude for sure.

Dear god, from that I can infer he has a terrible attitude. He has no spine. He should have told management to go mess off, he can deal with his own diet. He don't need no "professional" to tell him how to train.
He should also interview like the old spice guy, and just shout out all the answers. That would signal he meant business. This cool as a cucumber thing may work for James Bond, but James Bond is a feline. He should really emulate Rambo.
He says good things about his teammates? Shows he's too complacent about making the team. He should be trashing every one of them. He should hide in the closest of his teammates to find out their dirtiest secrets so he can destroy him so he can climb up the depth chart ahead of them.
He made himself more flexible? He should have focused solely on making himself stronger like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He should be MASSIVE!
The op is right and YOU ARE WRONG!

Wow, the guy in that video sounds like the biggest retard in history. And yes Tanev has made a couple mistakes, but overall his defensive play has been very good. I guess he's not allowed to make the rare mistake or learn since he's just breaking into the NHL or anything though, he'd better be Shea Weber this season or he's a bust. I doubt Tanev even had 10 NHL games to his name when this video was taken, so give the kid a freaking break.

I think the OP is a bit off too, but seriously? Giving someone a compliment also means you wish to give them a blowjob now? I guess I'm never complimenting anyone again.

Tanev = Composed kid.

He's not overly skilled. He's not loud. He doesn't, as far as I know, do the rah-rah thing. He's a young player on his way up. He looks like he's going to be a top-4 defender for years to come.

Cavalier attitude? I think not.

Im just tired of everyone praising a guy that hasn't proved himself. Once he gets 40 goals and plays 18 minutes a night then i guess some of the predections people seem too have in certain threads will be true. But for fans to keep saying this guy is the next bertuzzi or the next great star on our team because he is training and lost weight is assinine. Everyone on the team trains hard in the summer and i guarentee u this... the canucks told him too slim down because he looked tired after half of the game simple as that. I am routing for him, but seriously dont make him another Shirokov CDC
