Have The Vancouver Canucks Ever Developed a Legit Superstar?

develope superstars?

did the Oilers develope Gretzky? really??? I think not.

We didn't develope "Bure".

Most Superstars are "born to run" from an early age with the inner "drive" to be the best, they spend countless hours working to get to the top.

Simply put this thread is stupid as far as the term "superstar" is concerned. No team is going to instill that drive they've already developed themselves at an early age. The best any team can do is give a player the tools needed to help a given player to get better. The Canucks under Gillis seem to get that.

With the whole Hodgson fiasco behind us and Jordan Schroeder looking to be a bust if he doesn't make the team this year I'm really worried about our cupboard being empty.

While Kassian may turn out to be a quality player I still have my reservations on him. If he does live up to his potential I see him being like Keith Primeau type not Eric Lindross.

The only player that we have truly developed into a mega superstar is Pavel Bure.

Schneider has the potential but only time will tell.

The point I'm trying to get at is that our organization has drafted abysmally. Look at Philadelphia, now they have future SUPERSTARS IN THE MAKING.

And by superstar I mean top 5 player in the league i.e CROSBY, MALKIN, WEBBER, GIROUX, OVECHKIN

The Sedins are very good players but they are not SUPERSTARs. The only reason they are so great is because they feed off each and have chemistry. We saw Henrick wasn't as good when Daniel was injured.

I wouldn't say we developed Bure into a superstar. He came into he league ready to be one. The Sedins, however... no question.... though their success has maybe had more to do with their own hard work and dedication than it has the Canucks program. I would also make the argument for Kesler, if he can string together a couple more 40 goal seasons and Selke Trophies.

I don't get how people can post stuff like this when a little research would have solved all the trouble of answering silly questions. Google was created for a reason. Learn to use it.

It seems though that people are arguing over not who but what is considered a superstar.

Raymond = Not a superstar

Ballard = Not a superstar, can hardly crack the lineup.

Luongo.... Was a superstar when he arrived.... We walked all over him until he was just a shell

of the man he was in '06. I'd say that's quite the opposite of developing a superstar....
