Sharpshooter
Sunday's shooting at a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek have many asking about the religion and its beliefs. The religion was founded in the 1600s and today has a following of over 20 million people worldwide. Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times, truthful living, equality of mankind, social justice and denounces superstitions and blind rituals. Sikhism is open to all. The work 'Sikh' comes from the Punjabi language meaning 'disciple.' Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus. The Sikhs say their teachings are practical and universal in their appeal to all mankind. Each one of the ten Gurus represents a divine attribute: Guru Nanak - Humility Guru Angad - Obedience Guru Amar Das — Equality Guru Ram Das - Service Guru Arjan - Self-Sacrifice Guru Hargobind - Justice Guru Har Rai - Mercy Guru Harkrishan - Purity Guru Tegh Bahadur - Tranquility Guru Gobind Singh - Royal Courage

Special Ed
Obviously, if a colored individual is involved it's 'terrorism' but the theater shooting was 'random'.

Armada
Your statement doesn't make any sense, since the shooter here was white as was the Colorado shooter. One is being treated as an event with multiple cases of homicide and this event is being treated as a case of 'domenstic terrorism' because of the nature of the attack. There's a distinction between a case of foreign vs domestic terrorism vs homicide
NightHawkSniper
Obviously for anyone so unbalanced or fanatical (or just plain stupid) to even consider doing something like this, media coverage isn't the sole trigger, or even a major one for the most part. The people who do these things are probably more motivated by a lifetime of intolerance taught to them by people who should know better themselves. Drybone
In the case of the TDKR shooting the motive was not religious. It was simply a delusional person acting out his fantasy. When shootings happen as a result of racial, sexual, political, etc preferences it is such a step back for the world as a whole. Best wishes to all the victims and their families
Dazzle
IMHO, rampage shootings ARE massacres and should be seen as terrorism, especially with an agenda of some kind. It doesn't matter if James Holmes was living out a fantasy of his - it is no different than if a terrorist consciously wants to send a message a certain way. Perhaps when the word "terrorism" is used more frequently, it could destroy racial barriers and focus less on the race.

-Vintage Canuck-
Obama 'deeply saddened' by shooting at Sikh temple; Romney also offers prayers: WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama said Sunday that he and first lady Michelle Obama are "deeply saddened" by the killing of at least six people Sunday at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, and promised his administration will provide "whatever support is necessary" to those investigating the shooting. "At this difficult time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded," Obama said in a statement issued by the White House. "As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our country has been enriched by Sikhs, who are a part of our broader American family," the president said. The gunman opened fire and killed six people at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee before he was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a police officer, authorities said. A White House official said Obama was notified of the Wisconsin shooting shortly before 1 p.m. EDT by Homeland Security Adviser John Brennan. Mitt Romney, likely Republican challenger for the presidency, also expressed his sorrow about the shooting. "This was a senseless act of violence and a tragedy that should never befall any house of worship," Romney said in a statement. "Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Oak Creek Sikh community. We join Americans everywhere in mourning those who lost their lives and in prayer for healing in the difficult days ahead." http://bigstory.ap.o...ing-sikh-temple
