kesler is the king
I think he will be a good addition to our team, especially with Salo signing in Tampa. He should be a decent replacement for Salo on the power play, and from what I hear he is a fairly physical D-man. It will be nice to have another D-man who can chip in offensively too. Though, I don't know if he should be making as much as Kevin Bieksa. Bieksa has been here a long time and is arguably our best defenceman. Maybe I am a little biased as Bieksa is my favourite player, but I don't know...only time will tell I guess.
coastal1
How are we supposed to know? He hasn't even played a game in a Canucks uniform yet!

CanucksFanMike
i voted yes.... upgrade on Salo in all dimensions But then again he hasn't suited up in a Canucks uni yet!
elvis15
I answered yes, so I await the obligatory "sucking the Gillis teat" comments that we have no thoughts of our own. Anyways, he was offered more elsewhere and is very good defensively so even with a little less offensive production it's a good deal. If he produces similar to last year, then that's a bonus. DeltaSwede
I don't think you can answer no to this question. We aquired what most people felt was among the top 3 defensemen available in the free agent pool, he is from b.c, he seems to be a great person and player, He has a rocket of a shot, and he took a paycut to sign with the Canucks. He will be so motivated to perform well for the Canucks since it is his favorite team growing up and he hasn't taken an easy road to get to the contract he got from the Canucks which he has earned through hard work. His story is similar to Burrows and I can already tell that he will be one of those guys come playoff time that will really step up. It seems like he really wants to win with Vancouver. I am a few beers in, I feel kinda philosophical at the moment.. great signing either way in my books.

Moonshinefe
He hasn't even scored for us yet, he's a bust. I voted wait and see because I remember everyone creaming their pants over the Panthers' Keith Ballard, and we can see how that turned out so far. Rink on Renfrew
I used to skateboard with him as a kid, so I love the signing! He's going to play his hardest every shift and that's all we can ask for. The market dictated what his value was, not Much you can do about that. If he's anywhere around 10 goals this season, I'd say we get full value.

sirwilliam
It's risky. Only one proven season as a top defender. But he'll be given big minutes and put in a position to succeed, I think he'll do fine. If he keeps up between 30 and 40 points over his contract, win. billabong
i like garrison playing with edler on the 2nd pairing BUT im not all that thrilled with the 4.6m cap hit....which makes him tide with bieksa for highest paid defenseman if it was 4m cap hit then id be all in BUT i dont think garrison knows what kind animal he just took on.....he might be from here but that doesnt do much for you when you have a 4.6m cap hit attached to your name and you have 2 goals and we are 3 months in the season and the powerplay is in a 3 for 30 streak and you are the most scrutinized canuck in town....lets see if he regrets signing that deal it was foolish of him to not be like "lets make it a 4m for 6yr deal instead.....i dont wanna be tide for the highest paid defenseman on a new team in a city like this"....just taking a .600k pay cut would have done him a lot of good when this teams gets in a slump
Silfverberg Snipes
Meh. The definition of a one hit wonder offensively. If he can be a Willie Mitchell type player for us I'd be happy.
YEGCanuck
I say yes, this one signing has made our team younger and it should be improved at both ends of the ice.
Ossi Vaananen
You can't go wrong with getting a guy like Garrison, sound defensively with an offensive season. If the majority of his points came from assists, then I'd be concerned about him being a one hit wonder, but the reality is he scored 16 goals, many of which from a massive slap shot that he has. If he can bring that slap shot here, which I'm sure he can, then we will have no issue with his play.
hero11
Love this signing. Our team is better offensively and defensively now. He can play a stay at home role for the most part being paired alongside Edler, and the dude is a legit finisher that makes our power play even better with the Sedins setting him up for his cannon of a shot. Plus he's faster, more durable, and hits more than Salo does.
BEAST09
I have a friend who is currently working at Jason Garrisons house in west van. He has had the opportunity to talk to him a few times and has nothing but good things to say about his personality. He is apparently massive and is constantly working out in his home gym which overlooks the ocean. Has a very very wealthy family and didn't necessarily need a mega contract, which is partly why he took a home town discount. ^ slightly interesting i guess.. I believe he is a great signing. very underrated in the defensive zone, everyone seems to think he is an offensive powerhouse. His strength is defense! His shot is obviously a great addition also.
