I have a feeling they'll give him a chance early on a good line with quality linemates. If he can click early, lookout.

Ya that's the thing I realized right after I posted that, he'll probly get a chance on the first line with Gaborik out.

And if he puts the puck in the net, a top 6 of:

Nash - Richards - Kreider
Gaborik - Stepan - Callahan

is pretty damn scary.

He has already played more than 9 games in a season, meaning the first year of his ELC is done and he is no longer eligible for the Calder.

Kreider.

5 goals in the playoffs and he has never played a regular season game in the NHL.

Impressive.

It's a ridiculous year. You got Huberdeau (40 pts), Tarasenko (55 pts), Galchenyuk (45 pts), Yakupov (50 pts), Granlund (65 pts), Bartschi [ no idea :( ], Krieder (50 pts), Strome (50 pts) and there's bound to be a surprise somewhere.

My pick is Granlund tho

I'm going with Tarasenko if he can stay in the top 6 otherwise Yakupov because he is pretty much guarenteed a spot.

The Oilers have never had a Calder winner...and they've had some pretty good rookies. I think they're due.

I voted Dougie Hamilton.

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

Bettman.

if there is no season at all, he would easily win the calder trophy. because 3 lock out under his reign is clearly a rookie, inexperimented commissionning.

Eligibility for rookie status is 25 nhl games or less, not whether or not he burned a year off an elc

Kreider or Granlund.

Tarasenko is out because the Blues under Hitch are terrible offensively and we know offence usually wins the Calder. They win by committee and that's not good for Tarasenko in an effort to win the Calder.

I picked Yakupov, mainly because i think hes gonna be getting the better opportunity. Granlund will most like be line 2 in minnesota. Tarasenko has a good opportunity as well tho. It will be another close race.

I think Tarasenko could rip it up with his skills. Hamilton could also rack up some big points on the back end. I voted for Huberdeau though, just because he's a high pick and he had almost 2.00 points per game last year in the QMJHL which was a big improvement.

Thought it was time to bump this thread with the season to begin tomorrow..

It seems like this year's rookie class has been one of the best in years? A shame it will be so short.

I think Yakupov has the most upside of these guys but seems a little raw and I think this year is Eberle's to shine. May also be overshadowed by RNH.

Schultz has a chance if their powerplay lights it up like they did in the AHL.

Granlund will be playing centering the second line for Minny. If Koivu continues to have injuries here and there I could see Granlund ripping it up with Parise and Heatley.

Tarasenko's expectations are extremely high with quite a bit of experience and production to show for in the KHL. However, the blues are just too deep and he won't really get his chance to shine right away.

Huberdeau is likely to get his chance with the panthers but my expectations for him dropped after a mediocre WJH

Hamilton also had somewhat of a disappointing WJC but could make some noise on a good bruins team with aging D-corps

Too bad Brunner is too old for the calder but I think he'll be the best "rookie" of the year playing beside datsyuk and zetterberg.

Other candidates include Bartsche, Kreider, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk.. etc.. I think I'm gonna go with Granlund, but in a shortened season I think all of these guys have a shot

One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

Am I blind or is J-Schultz not on the list? Considering his chemistry with the young oil in the AHL, I expect he's going to have a terrific offensive season.

Granlund next though, because he's the most complete player at this point IMO.

The list was made in August before Schultz showed us what he can do in the AHL. That also explains why Jensen is on the list too I guess. Once again the Oilers have a couple of Calder favourites, if they somehow end up with Jones or Mackinnon this year too I'm going to be pissed/
