babych
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=402732 I wonder what kind of return the Flames would get. I could see J-Bo being successful in Detroit.
votrechien
Makes sense for everyone. He only has 2 years left on his contract, so Calgary should be able to get something, even though it's a salary dump.
Shift-4
Very interesting. I wonder if Flames would have to take back cash in return?

Shift-4
With Detroit having so much cap space I don't think that's an issue. I don't know if this is a true salary dump as J-Bo is actually a pretty good player.
UFCanuck
Not surprising. The Wings should be talking to every team about acquiring a #1 defenseman, they're desperate.
PlayStation
No the Flames are suppose to be challenging for a playoff spot. Hah, just hurry up and dump him and start rebuilding!
Jägermeister
Calgary probably wants such a ludicrous amount back that no team will be willing to bite.
Prngr44
Don't they have 10 D on one way contracts right now? Maybe I just dreamt that up. Not surprising the Wings are kicking the tires. I know the Blues have, but I assume Calgary wants way too much in return.

PlayStation
My take on it is that they feel Wideman replaces J-Bo and then they can use the freed up cap room to aquire some scoring. But yeah, I agree with you. Instead of hanging on and just missing the playoffs every year they should strip that thing down and start over. -CanuckMan-
Detroit seems like the perfect team that can get him going again. He would be playing with great players and wouldn't be relied on so heavily to step up.
Scorevat
which assets would detroit give up? filppula+ prospect (marek tvrdon)+ 2nd+5th? hard to judge jbo's value considering that he's a great shutdown guy and has potential still but has diminished his offensive output past few years. If mo town can land him, great, but no one can replace the intangibles lidstrom brought.
eretz canucks
He could be a hood shutdown guy He may have been in the past Lady year, minus 21 stat makes me think otherwise.
Fanuck
I think J-Bo would be a good fit for Det in many respects, although he'd have impossible shoes to fill with the departure of NL unfortunately. J-Bo gets a lot of hate due to his salary, but you don't finish 3rd in TOI out of all D-men in the NHL by being an unreliable, terrible defenceman, you just don't. He's only ever played on bad, unerachieving teams. I'd like to see what he could do somewhere where he's not the only one on the ice at any one given time taking care of defending for his team.
