I have the Shaw HD cable box but with all the recent promotions that Telus has been coming up with, I am thinking of switching to Telus Optik TV. Has anyone tried both services and which do you prefer?

See if you can threaten Shaw with switching to Telus. It's worth a shot if it can lower your bill.

Find some telus promo and say you want them to match it or something like that.

Telus, like the other people have said, is indeed brutal. I switched from Satellite to Optik and it was the worst change ever. Thank god I didn't cancel my satellite subscription.

I once went into the Telus store in Metrotown to cancel my DSL but they couldnt process the cancellation because their DSL connection to the servers was down. The girl behind the counter didnt understand why I thought this was funny. I have been happily with Shaw ever since.

I have Optik and have no issues. If you're in an area where they have good throughput, the quality and capability is great. See what pricing and promotions you can get, and if you're not a fan of contracts, don't sign one.

I'm with telus right now I had some problems with them earlier when I lived in an apartment but it was the buildings wiring since that I've bought a house stayed with them only problem I have even had is I ordered the NHL center ice pack it worked then it didn't work so I called them they fixed it gave me 1/2 off the package and free movie channels and porn for 3 months. What they failed to tell me is I had to phone and cancel them and they billed me I called them they took it off my bill offered me 3 more months free and I said no. Myself I have had shaw but never paid for it it was at my parents houses and when I was younger and had roommates. I have only delt with their customer service twice when I bought my house (brand new) there was about 50-60 letters from shaw saying welcome to the area and asking me to use their services i called and said i had a ridiculous amount of letters from them in my mail box and asked them to quit sending them . this would continue for 3 months this with a letter every day I was keeping them all in a garbage bag I finally got so pissed off I told them I was going to tie bricks to the bag and throw it through a office window I only got them for a week longer.

So glad I'm downtown. I pay half the price and get Novus service. Wooo, fibre-optic internet connection!

Shaw handsdown. Telus is absolutely brutal. I went over to a buddies house the other day, and it's nothing compared to Shaw. The picture isn't een that great on Telus, and the box freezes ever so often.

No problems whatsoever with Telus Optik. Plus if you bundle up with internet you effectively get unlimited data. Telus atually tries to reward loyal customers by offering good retention deals.
