Here's how he can 'man up' and put this to rest, if indeed he's legit:

STOP BEING ANONYMOUS!

I like twitter, but i gotta admit that there is A LOT of crap on it. But the onus is on you to determine what's crap and what's legit. HockeyyInsiderr never looked legit to me. Too many rumours, period, is a good indication.

But then people would still hate on him and not believe him since he wouldn't be someone who's 37 and owns a house and a Mercedes and has worked for 4 NHL teams - plus he'd lose the followers he does have. That'd ruin his plan to have a site that feeds him money through advertising when people view the blog posts of the people he's recruited to his "dream team" of writers. He's basically trying to make a living off of internet porn site level advertising revenue.

Pretty much.

All this would be one thing if he wanted to style himself as a re-tweeter or re-blogger of information others are putting out, much like Jason Brough over at PHT (not to suggest @HI's on the same level even). He doesn't though and positions much of the information he tweets as stuff he's broken to the world before anyone else.

When he gets things right, it's because he got it from somewhere else first, but he has never given credit to any of the people he's gotten information from - public information coming from legitimate reporters.

I heard the podcast as well...

He claimed the following:

- He's 37

- He was drafted in 1993, went straight to the NHL.

- He was kicked off a plane.

- He had a french accent.

Sounds like Alexandre Daige, or Patrick Boileau.I dug up an interview of Alexander Daigle, and man he does sounds a lot like him.

I'd be interested to hear why the podcast was further confirmation of if he's a fraud or not.

Daigle matches some of the particulars he's listed, but Daigle played with 6 NHL teams (Ottawa, Philly, Tampa, Rangers, Pittsburgh and Minny) so saying he's worked with 4 doesn't match up. Daigle did stop playing a couple years ago after being in the Swiss league (as far as I know) but it doesn't make sense his career path would lead him to an anonymous twitter account after he enjoyed the celebrity more than the hockey during his playing career.

Did he sound older or could he have been young?

I reluctantly clicked the link, but didn't get Daigle from the sound of his voice although a light french accent but talks very softly, I'm not sure it sounds like a 17 year old, but hardly a guarantee it's a 37 year old either. On top of that the hosts, incarcerated Bob and his brother are not the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.

- Drafted 1993, said he played in the NHL right away at first but then wouldn't confirm if he played right away in the NHL or went back to juniors/AHL/etc.

- Said the 4 teams included teams he played for and worked for, again wouldn't confirm details of how many he played for of those 4.

- Went back to talking about the article, all the same stuff about friending everyone on FB and the article had absolutely no facts, etc.

- Talked about Dreger, said it was "brought to his attention after" that the vodoo doll thing was fake and was sent to him like that, has two people who work at TSN who know who he is but Dreger doesn't.

- A couple of names thrown out (Dion Darling, Alexander Daigle), says he can't answer the question if he's those people or not (obvs).

- Asked why he can't reveal who he is: says he's married and his wife and kids don't know about the "@HI Character", also would be for his privacy, doesn't want to get caught up in media circus

- Not involved in any NHL franchise at the moment

- Had said he'd reveal his identity at 50K followers but then said he has 20+K followers who aren't real so he won't reveal himself now

- Asked again about Daigle, then he says he feels uncomfortable and would have to disconnect the call, host presses, starts to call him Alex then corrects himself, says why would it be bad if people knew he was Daigle since he's done well (?!) breaking news etc, he says not comfortable and not what he's doing right now, wants to keep it anonymous

- Asked to confirm a summary (37, drafted in 93, straight to NHL in 93, not back to juniors) and @HI says yes to that

- Asked one more thing: has he even played with Yashin, totally avoids question and finally says, "I know Daigle played for Ottawa, Yashin did also," and says the host is trying to confirm Daigle or not, and he won't answer the question

- First NHL goal scored against what goalie, can't answer that, what round drafted, can't answer that, didn't answer if he was ever taken off a pane

- Did say he's officially retired from NHL, not Chris Gratton (wasn't one of the initials supplied), not a fighter, wouldn't say how many fights

- Didn't answer the question where the 93 draft was after having said he was drafted that year, stalled for a few minutes then answered

- Did confirm he played in Europe, but wouldn't confirm anything more

This way people don't have to even go to the podcast, that sums up the conversation pretty well.

Four players drafted in '93 have the initials AD, DD, or PM: Alexandre Daigle, Adam Deadmarsh, Dion Darling, and Alex Duchesne. Daigle played for 6 NHL teams so that rules him out as "Said the 4 teams included teams he played for and worked for". Deadmarsh & Duchesne never played in Europe (plus Duchesne turned 38 at the start of this year). Darling played for the Spokane Chiefs in 93-94 and never played an NHL game other than preseason for the Kings where he had 5 fights, so I wouldn't say he is "not a fighter" (had 131 career fights). In summary, HockeyyInsiderr is just full of crap like we all know he is.
