I loved the part where Valabik was getting in Ryp's face asking him if he was serious.

15 seconds later he's got his jersey over his head getting destroyed!!! :towel:

Wow, this is even bigger news than the Weber offer sheet or Parise/Suter. Huge loss to the NHL, Valabik is one of the league's brightest stars. With his blinding speed, brilliant hockey sense, powerful agility, and razor-sharp quickness, he is one of the most gifted and skilled talents in the game today. It will be interesting to see how the Penguins fill the huge hole left by his departure. He will immediately put his new team on the map by signing there.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Fantastic hockey player who has won it all. After capturing the Norris, Stanley Cup and the Art Ross, his heart just wasn't in it for the NHL. I hope he enjoys his multi billion dollar deal.

Valabik had great potential. I kind of feel sorry for him that he's developed into a pylon.

He was chosen 10th overall in 2004.

Knowing Gillis, he may have considered signing him simply for that reason. ;)

He was a hit or miss. Chara was a 2nd rounder who turned out fine. Vlabik didn't turn out. THe 2004 draft is loaded with hit and miss players. It's ironic we came out of that draft with Schneider, Edler, and Hansen.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

http://bleacherrepor...d-top-prospects

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Lots of mocking of Valabik, especially considering he's been making and will continue to make excellent money to play a sport that most of us are playing for free......... and he's played 80 more NHL games than anyone who's doing the mocking.

So if someone even plays one game in the NHL, they're impervious to mocking?

(for those confused by some of the odder mocking, Valabik is an inside joke in multiple Fantasy Hockey leagues here on CDC)

Not impervious to mocking at all. But those doing the mocking are quite likely not even able to stand up on skates against this guy nevermind play and get drafted at the highest level. I also find it funny that everyone that's doing the mocking quite likely wouldn't have the balls to do it to the guys face.

But you're right, I'm not aware of this inside joke about Valabik and this likely explains some of the comments.

Actually i was drafted in the 1st round and scored 19 goals this past season and now i will be 1C in buffalo. Not to mention i ripped a shot bar down on Tim Thomas.

I have every right to mock
