EmployeeoftheMonth
It doesn't take a Christian to realize what senseless dabber rejecting free worship and the teaching of religion. Canada is founded on these freedoms. Simply, if you don't like freedoms then you can leave.
dajusta
How does him saying that he is academic in any way imply that NO religious person is academic? Do you just ENJOY putting words in other people's mouths or is it just ingrained because being a Christian made you that way?

Tearloch7
Hard to take an "academic" seriously when he/she believes in a "Santa Clause" type deity .. I believe in gravity myself .. has not let me down yet and is always there for me .. MOTTO: .. "GRAVITY" .. it will keep you grounded" ..

Slaytanic Wehrmacht
I challenge you Slaytanic, do you believe in altruism? Do you have any meaning to life? Do you have any urge to save life. I want to know why and where do those feelings come from.
dajusta
That would be fine if that was what you said. What you said was "if you don't like Religion so much then get out of canada." There is a world of difference between this incredibly ignorant statement and what you just changed it to after being called out on it and having time to think about it. dajusta
Human life is insignificant and therefore in the grand scheme of things meaningless. Humans are nothing special, the Earth is nothing special, the Sun is nothing special. We're all beings, the earth is a planet, the sun is a star, all made up of the same fundamental particles of nature. Nothing any of us do is going to matter one iota after the human race is extinct. Deal with it.

EmployeeoftheMonth
But that's essentially the cornerstone of the post. Maybe you didn't read it. This is an attack on the freedom of religion and a knife into teaching religion to one's own children.
Slaytanic Wehrmacht
So therefore what Hitler did was neither good or bad and therefore trying to prevent him from killing more and more Jews would have been irrelevent?

Satan's Evil Twin
then you must not have interacted with that many athiests unbridled id .race, religion [or lack of it ] do not make people intolerant , it is their atittude to others and their beliefs that make a person/people intolerant . athiests are like any other group of people, they have a mix of good, bad and indifferent . dajusta
It's not irrelevant to bring up Hitler and the holocaust when we are talking about atheism and morality. It's a burning question that is still is not resolved on any realm of discussion. Slaytanic already made it clear, according to him: "human life has no significance in the grand scheme of things." Human life is insignificant and therefore in the grand scheme of things meaningless. Humans are nothing special, the Earth is nothing special, the Sun is nothing special. So this the window to your beliefs and mindset, this is essentially your world view. From here we derive a point that human life isn't important and has no intrinsic value to it. Is it safe to say that you neither believe in good and evil as well? That these words to you are human constructs that have evolved over time to aid survival? Would you risk yourself to save the lives of others? Why or why not? Should we be concerned with genocide in other countries, and/or should there even be a desire to learn from those histories (such as Tutsis and Hutus)? Do you think it is a waste of resources to help those in need? People who in all likelihood would not aid in your survival?
dajusta
Hitler was god and his genocide was punishment for the Jews for rejecting Jesus because killing the entire species again was too much hassle. Who are you to question a supreme being and its actions? It's all a part of god's plan.
