      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

[Discussion] The Doan Meta-Thread v2.0

Recommended Posts

Some guy at work blabbered Canucks offer is 5yrs, 40mil. That's 8mil per. Guaranteed. For 5 years. Quoted some rumour on a Sabres 'We're not going to get Doan because...' article that i can't seem to find now.

He is very gullible. Don't believe everything you read, guy.

There are reports out there that we've offered Doan 4 years with an average of $6 million per.

I don't put too much stock in "rumours", but this seems a likely scenario to me.

I'm sure it's more than Gillis wants to spend (in money and term) but Doan is highly sought-after and something like this is probably what it's going to take to be in the running.

It sounds like Buffalo has offered even more, but unlike Ehrhoff, I believe Doan would probably realize that he has a better chance to win here, rather than upstate NY...

I know Eklund's garbage, but by 'offer more' as in more salary, I don't think he meant that. I think he meant by 'offer more' was that Vancouver offer's a much greater chance at winning the Cup than Buffalo does (at the moment)

I REALLY hope these ridiculous offers aren't coming from the Canucks. Hopefully the part about his family wanting him to play in Vancouver is true. Surely Gillis can play with that and use it to his advantage.

Deadline for Doan to sign in Phoenix is September 1st if not he will be Canucks at Gillis offer at 4 years 24million.

Ate to say it, but the longer this drags on the more of a chance shane doan will sign in phx IMO . If you think about it, if he was really sick of waiting he wouldve signed somewhere else by now but he's giving them every single opportunity there is. Obviously his fam most likely wants to stay there. But non of us know forsure what's gonna happen because anything is a possibility.

Off topic: I know probably non of you care BUT I just got a job with the canucks even security !!! Soo stoked !!

Event security **** stupid phone

if all 784,450 fans of the Vancouver Canucks (according to their Facebook page likes) invested $382.43, we could essentially OWN the Phoenix Coyotes and run it through a board of directors. I nominate myself as a life long CEO for coming up with this brilliant idea. :bigblush:

True. But if I was a NHL owner, why would I let my GM do a 37 year old Doan any favors like that? Instead, I would try to get him dirt cheap if I knew the lock out is inevitable.

I can't understand how Eklund is still recognised as a "legit" source by CDC while others with similar yet sometimes more accurate predictions are considered invalid.

I may be in the minority but I consider HI a better source than Eklund.

No way Canucks offer that much money for Doan. Anyone who lands Doan will overpay for what he brings, but I don't blieve MG spent so much time in the sun this summer that he's lost his marbles.
