Sale to be completed soon means Doan will be signing with the Yotes.

Good.

Doan/his agent has stated he will sign "somewhere" by September 15, before the current CBA expires. He has also stated that he would prefer to stay in Phoenix.

That article clearly states that Jamison still has issues to work out with the city bye the "end of September" (after September 15).

There's still the very likely scenario of the November election having a negative effect on ownership.

The team is still foretasted to lose money in Phoenix even if things go well with the city this month and elections in November pointing to the team being moved regardless. AKA not remaining in Phoenix where Doan would prefer to stay.

All of that, plus the payroll limitations of the team/loss of key players like Whitney and hence diminishing ability to compete for a cup make it far from a certainty that Doan will re-sign in Phoenix. It's certainly still possible but IMO, it's far from "likely".

Jamison is going to get his legs broken by the investors that leant him a majority of this money. Whatever profit Jamison makes it will be from the transfer payments of the top 9 teams - the current system which see's these teams get taxed 15mil a year for these garbage markets.

There is still a giant asterisk in as much as Jamison has to have everything worked out by the end of September.

I'm pretty sure he's looked into this alot further than we have. The guy isn't some dumb hockey fan who is willing to buy the cheapest franchise just to own one, he's made serious money before so obviously he knows what he's doing. My guess is he knows the franchise has to move eventually and when it does he'll get a major Canadian market and the value of the franchise will skyrocket. I don't know anything about major corporate business but I'm betting he's got this thing planned out over the next 20yrs.

I can only hope that the Sept 15th date is a firm date for him to sign and that the issues Jamison's having with the City of Phoenix about taxes or whatever continue way past Sept 15th in an unresolved fashion that forces Doan to succumb to frustration and impatience and ultimately allows him to sign with the Canucks.

There was a report not two months ago stating Jamieson was only worth 40 million, hence the finance plan. It was sold to Jamieson because it was believed he would keep the team in Pheonix and there would be support from Glendale in the form of taxation for 20 million dollars a year. There is a lot of loose ends.

See Boudrais expansion on this point at the end of page 15.

It's still off season ppl. Relax. There is no "saga" going on.

Lu should not be traded just for the sake of just making a traded. Patience is a virtue.
If Doan signs with PHX it might be the best thing to happen to the Canucks. His age and salary might make Doan the worst contract in the league in a couple of years if rumours of how much $ it will take to sign him are true.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

He isn't staying in Phoenix as no one has confirmed that yet. He simply stated that it was his GOAL to stay in Phoenix all along and if that didn't work out he'd test the open waters.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

He actually never said he was staying in Phoenix...It's likely, but nothing new has come out saying that.

He said that he will be signed by midnight on the 15th, and that his goal all along is to stay in Phoenix. There is still the possibility that the sale will fall apart. So until it actually goes through, he won't be signing there.

If he signs here it will be a 1st year signing bonus. That's for sure.

The key difference is that Sopel can fill in for Seabrook and Campbell just fine. Bieksa, he is garbage so in that sense he is like the worst defenseman in the league.

When Cody (Hodgson) gets older, he might be better than Datsyuk.

Let's not push this guy (Kassian). He's still immature, and if he fails on the 2nd line it's because he isn't ready. Some guys really need years to develop, it's how well and how fast players adapt to the game. In my opinion, I'd rather have Horvat getting 2nd line minutes. He will start off on the 3rd line next season but I see him making the transition, being a great compliment to whoever plays his wings.

At this point, I don't see Kassian fitting in to any role other than a 3rd. If players like Kassian start getting 2nd line minutes then we just stay inconsistent as a team.

The idiocy on CDC....

This has been the case the whole time. I don't see why all these fans are jumping the gun as if he is already signed.

Stuff we already know:

He wants to stay in phoenix
He'll re-sign there if ownership is in place
Jamison has the money to buy the team

Nothing from that interview has changed any of those things. There is still the issue of the lease agreement, which could completely change Jamison's ability to purchase the team. Like I said, there is no guarantee the agreement will be in place before the 15th.

Talk about people jumping to conclusions.

I feel like some people really aren't following this saga very closely, including TSN.

They're ignoring a huge issue that very well could mean Doan leaving Phoenix.

A source confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday evening that suitor Greg Jamison, the former president and CEO of the San Jose Sharks, has finally arranged financing that would allow him to purchase the team from the National Hockey League for $170 million, and that any issues with the lease agreement between the City of Glendale and Jamison’s investors for Jobing.com Arena, where the Coyotes play, are expected to be resolved by the end of September.

Any issues are "expected" to be resolved, not guaranteed. And if it takes till the end of September to come to an agreement that means Jamison won't be able to purchase the team until after Doan's September 15th deadline.

The city of Glendale wants to completely change the 20 year $300 million lease agreement, which they absolutely have the power to do.

And any material changes to that arena deal by Glendale will require a new City Council vote, according to officials familiar with issue. That means if the city tries to rework the payment timetable, amounts and structure, it will likely require a fresh vote from the Glendale council.

So any changes that they want to make will have to be voted on by the council, which hasn't been scheduled yet, and might not be until October for all we know. The bottom line is, Phoenix is in the crapper, and there is an election coming up. So I can guarantee you that city council will want to make it look like they got the best deal possible for the city. Meaning there could be a long negotiation.

Basically this saga is not as close to being over as people here are trying to pretend it is.

Yet another issue that people are ignoring:

http://www.azcentral...ear-ballot.html

An appeals court in Glendale ruled yesterday that the sales tax initiative will in fact appear on a ballot and be voted upon. Therefore the citizens of Glendale will likely reject the tax increase, the city will not have the money to pay Jamison, and the deal could very well fall through.

Again, this deal appears to be close for alot of people. But in reality it's not.
