This issue is SO annoying .. but what is more so is the NE Patriots home boys writing ad nausem about this "non-issue" cuz every time you reply, we have to see that stupid gif of Brady and #11 playing catch with that obviously under inflated ball . Can we seriously move on already ... I feel like throwing up.

Someone in the organization just needs to come out and say "I did it" to make this go away. Problem is that someone isn't being paid millions of dollars to inflate game balls and will be canned. Ah the Patriots, if it was any other team no one would care.

Breaking the rules and then lying about it is a bigger issue than the outcome of one game. It would also be common sense to say that they wouldn't change their routine up in a big game like last week, so this deflation stuff has likely been going on for years.

Well first of all how many times do we see every hockey player TRY to break the rules and get away with it every shift? Hockey is probably the worst for guys trying as hard as they can to get away with whatever they can. Probably why we have a penalty box right?

For me this Super Bowl is a dream come true. The Seahawks and Patriots are my two favorite teams and I hope the game goes into overtime with the Seahawks winning on a safety. :towel:

I know Belichek is a turd but Tom Brady is not. Lumping them both together is not fair to either man. Sure Belichek is a dislikeable guy who has been known to cheat (like every other coach). What sets him apart is he is not a likeable guy. He pushes the envelope and gets caught but then has his football team 13-3 on average every year winning multiple superbowls. The guy is without a doubt a genius. I just dont know how much he is without Brady.

Brady has no issues with his personality. By all accounts he is well liked by his team mates and around the league. He is a sure hall of famer who has broken just about every record their is and its not because he played with a bunch of hall of famers to make him look good either.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out Patriot insiders would know what Brady likes. They dont need Brady or Belichek to give their say so. They just go ahead and take the balls after the refs ok them and on the sideline let them out a bit.

The league could have very well just handled it internally or fined them or whatever. But because its the Patriots, they make a huge thing about it so the Colts and especially the Ravens can cry a river of crocodile tears.

Next time, assign league 'handlers' for the balls so they cant be deflated, inflated, greased or ironed or vacuumed or shat on while on the sideline. Seems easy enough a plan right? :picard:

You're equating tripping / hooking penalties to this? Football has flags too for in game infractions. This is more like a team bringing out a doctored puck for their penalty shots or shootout attempts or a goalie using legal equipment for league inspections and then swapping out with illegal equipment for the game.

A friend of mine in the NHL said at both the AHL and NHL level there's guys whose curves are a bit more than the legal allowed limit because it helps them keep the puck on their stick, but no one cares because they're not sniping 50 goals a year. The only time refs are asked to check a players curve is when a team gets scored on 4 times in the same game by the same player and that team then asks for a stick check.

The curve of a stick is more comparable to the air pressure of a football because they're tiny things that aren't really noticeable unless you really, specifically look for it.

Nonetheless, many a player have intercepted many a Brady pass in outdoor cold weather and have kept it as a souvenir and they nor their team's have ever suspected a problem, even after Brady has said multiple times over his career he likes the PSI to be at its lowest. You'd think if teams were really concerned a QB was having success against them simply due to air pressure, especially his rivals like Peyton Manning's Colts or the Ravens, they'd have asked for ball checks over the years.

Canucks really need to update their app. Can't even go back 1 page, automatically takes you to the 1st page of the thread. At a buddy's place, 4 of them are Seahawks "fans" (only 1 legitimately is). Laid down a bet. Patriots win - they each give me $100. Seahawks win - I give them each $100. Gave our money to another friend here who couldn't care less about the NFL, or any sport besides basketball. A lot of dough, but a free Xbox One to add to my PS4 would be nice.

I'm really hoping the world can start talking about the actual game soon. Such an amazing matchup.

Ikr. Just give them a fine ffs and let’s move on to the actual Superbowl coming up. It’s incredibly annoying that whatever network you watch they have interviews/tidbits on the subject running 24/7 or “coming up after the break." Driving me crazy.

Yeah enough already, wtf is the NFL doing? They should have already put this thing to rest but instead the story has grown into Godzilla.

They are just being thorough, which is the right thing to do in the circumstance.

People just need to be patient and stop speculating.

Edit: I've heard that they got an independent person looking into it and have done over 40 interviews already.

Just finished watching "A football life: Bill Walsh" - wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow.

It is a masterpiece in motion. I've read and heard things about Bill before but after seeing this documentary, it's eye popping how he functioned and changed the game. The adversity he went through, his brilliant brilliant mind and football brain, how he managed, got the best out of his players, and used psychology to maximize his team, his smarts, pure geniuseness...blew me away.

Love learning about the brilliant minds behind sports and how they did their thing better than anything else and Walsh, I have no words. Recommend any of you with time to watch it...RIP Bill Walsh.

That's a tricky question. The question is, did Brady know that they were underinflated? When I would squeeze one at practice, I had no clue what the PSI on it was. I just went with whatever one that gave me a good grip and had a slight give to it. I was never a QB let alone a professional QB, and I could tell the difference, but I couldn't tell you specifically what the PSI was. During slow parts of practice in high school I'd go to the bag that held our footballs to grab a ball. I'd squeeze them until I found one that I liked and would throw it back and forth with somebody else. If you didn't look busy during a practice and a coach saw you, you were told to start running laps on the track.

Only Brady himself could say whether he knows a ball well enough to tell it's weight.

This reminds me a lot of the stupid 'bridge-gate' that Governor Chris Christie had to endure. The guy is a hot head and carries a reputation as one who does not suffer fools gladly.

So his staff -eager to please him - does what they figure he wants and lashes out at a democrat who wouldnt back him by closing the lanes on the bridge to his district.

So this whole soap opera erupts as to Christies motives, and did he mastermind it all blah blah........

Since Nixon and Watergate , people in power can never have any official knowledge of anything shady. Especially something this petty and underhanded. Christie himself finds out about it and probably has a good chuckle. It still doesnt mean he had anything to do with it. His sycophants did.

Brady has sycophants too. They need Brady to win. They need to keep Brady happy. They gave him what he wanted. He went out to play and found the balls the way he likes them.

And to Neversummer, I can't see sigs on the app version of the forums, but I know you can, so you're welcome for the 3 separate posts. :) Go Pats

Only 11 of 12 balls were deflated because the last Wilson will be deflated next Sunday.

Ba-dum Tssh

Okay I'm done.

I sure hope so .. any chance we can mute NucksPatsFan for 8 days? Is there a way that members can vote that into reality?

How can some cheer for 2 teams?

I cheer for the Bills, which naturally means that when Superbowl time comes around I have to find a new team to cheer for.

Since the Pats are an AFC East rival, this year is easy...

Go Hawks!

Yeah enough already, wtf is the NFL doing? They should have already put this thing to rest but instead the story has grown into Godzilla.

Are you really surprised? This is Roger Goodell we're talking about. The guy does more waffling than IHOP.
