Ugh, Giants with another World Series win :sadno:

That's 2 too many in the last 3 years for my liking

Not a big Giants fan....nor the Tigers, either.

The most important thing is that the Yankees lost...

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

God dammit...friggin riots :picard:

Haven't they seen what happened to vancouver.....

And I believe if there were to be a riot it'd be in downtown san francisco and I'm pretty sure GM said he lives in Oakland IIRC, I'm probably wrong though

Oh yeah - and its time to change your name to chisoxin13, lol

Just curious, have you seen any coverage of this event in the media? Vancouver had to do the walk of shame, when the idiots destroyed downtown, guess the storm and election is too much for the American media.
I'm still licking my wounds as to what might have been, and yes come spring, after I get back from Hawaii, I'll be soxin13. The Tiggers collapsed worse than my Sox.

Congrats to the San Francisco Giants on their 2nd World Series win in three years! Interesting playoffs this year, better than last season imo.

Last years game 6 in the world series was the best game I have ever seen.

Congrats san Francisco

Nope, I live in San Francisco, yes I'm still alive, and yes I got a firsthand look at the mayhem. Not quite the magnitude or intensity of the Vancouver Cup riots but after all, the Canucks lost. I watched this game at a bar in Mission district, and walked past a lot of the madness on Mission street (where a lot of the fires were, but not the burning bus, which was downtown). I live on the west end of the city, which is far less prone to these spontaneous displays of joy, shall we say. However, because of street blockages (and eventual closures) I ended up having to walk most of the way home, which took a very long time. Good luck getting a cab in this city on a regular day, let alone after a major championship.

Anyways, regardless of that, a big kudos to the Giants. They really won as a team this year, and I think the City is showing a lot of love not just for the uniform or the end result (which are obvious), but for how they came together. It's a cliche to say "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game", but I've always believed it all the same, and I think the Giants can truly say they won the right way. Having said that, they didn't make it easy on themselves getting out of the NL, that's for sure. Parade's on Wednesday, still trying to figure out if there's any way at all I can cut work to go see it. Seems like a no-brainer, but I've really got a critical day of work that day too... :sadno:

EDIT: Oh, and I feel a little bad for the Tigers. I don't know why but they never really looked in this one. I'm sure the layoff was partly responsible, though the Giants were undoubtedly deserving and the better team over the small sample size. Wouldn't be too shocked to see these two teams contending for a rematch next year.

I can't help being upset with the results

Yeah true -- being one strike away and then coming back to win the whole thing -- I was thinking about the playoffs as a whole.

The Yankees and Orioles series. The Giants amazing comeback throughout the entire series. The Nationals epic collapse etc.

Aha no not really, it was directed more to those people who have a different favorite team every season...

And yea man, Crosby's golden goal was one of the best moments of my life

Yea I know what you mean, there's way too many LA Kings hats being worn now, especially when those same people were wearing Boston last year.

Aside from the golden goal, only other championship I had was the 2006 FIFA world cup. Winning doesn't happen too often <_<

Anybody catch the lo-lites of the Giants celebration in Frisco?

First some fat chick announces that the 49ers had won the World Series, then the mayor gets on the mic and butchers the names of half the pitching staff....

I missed the parade yesterday, too much work to do. I did get a good luck at the underbelly of this city though. First on the night of, witnessing the mattress fires and yahoos bouncing around on cars (and eventually burning a bus, though I didn't see that). Yesterday, one of my buddies was telling me about his trip into the City on the Caltrain, and he described the different crowd you see in those situations compared to the types you see in the City: train full of drunk idiots at 9 AM, way too many knives (people picking their nails and stabbing beers for shotgunning). Different types of people that's for sure.

Jays' trade with the Marlins looks too good to be true....unless the Marlins are back to their salary-dumping ways of old...

(I know there's a new thread on the trade, but this is where the topic belongs, IMO)

Holy cow, Buehrle, Reyes, Johnson, Bonifacio and Buck all to the Blue Jays in exchange for a list of guys who won't really be missed. As Rupert already said, almost too good to be true for Toronto.

The swap of Buck and Mathis has me wondering a bit. Mathis is a true backup, while Buck is a guy who could challenge for the number 1 spot.

It makes me wonder if maybe the Jays aren't thinking about moving Arencibia and bringing up D'Arnaud. Buck could mentor TD as he makes the transition to the pros...
