The Nashville Predators signed veteran defenceman Scott Hannan to a one-year, $1 million contract on Friday.
Last season, the 33-year-old blue liner scored two goals and added 10 assists for 12 points in 78 games with the Calgary Flames.
Hannan enters the 2012-13 season having played more games than any NHL defenseman in the last 10 seasons (798).
The Richmond, B.C. native has played in at least 75 games for 11 consecutive seasons.

Weber move over, we have a real number one defenceman now.

They DID retain Shea Weber, not sure that moves like that should get overlooked... plus their group with Klein, Josi, Gill, Blum and Ellis has plenty of potential, so with Hannan they should really be stable in their defense (though not as great as with Suter around, obviously)

Josi - Weber
Gill - Klein
Hannan - Ellis
Blum

On the other hand Detroit needs to do something about their back line, after losing Lidstrom AND Stuart

Kronwall, White, Quincey, Ericsson, Kindl and Smith are only a shadow of their past group

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Jesus LOVES YOU!
2012, meet Matthew 24:36-47!

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Would rather of seen Alberts traded and Hannan signed as our 7th defenceman especially at 1 mil per season he is cheaper and more reliable defensively than Alberts.

Good signing for the Preds. This also brings up Ballard's value if MG wants to dump some cap...which I don't see a point in doing because I believe Ballard and Tanev on the 3rd pairing will be moneyyyyyy!!!!
My 2014 Draft wishlist: 1st rd: Draisaitl, Virtanen, Scherbak. 2nd rd: Brendan Lemieux, Thatcher Demko (Goalie)

I really don't know how it took so long for him to find a place to play. He's a very serviceable bottom pair guy.

Good signing. Hannan rounds out Nashville's top 4

Blum - Weber
Gill - Klein
Ellis - Hannan

EDIT: I swear, every time I try to come up with Nashville's D pairings, I always forget Johnathan Blum.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

He's too slow to still be a good top 4 dman, but it's a good depth signing

A million bucks?

Sounds a good deal, would have loved a big depth defender for that! I did call to sign him...

But I'm batting zero > Souray, Arnott (still a chance, but fading) and Hannan were my July 1 shopping list. Happy with Garrison anyway!

Looks like they found a better replacement for Suter.

was one of the only decent moves Feaster made, signing Hannan...not sure what he was thinking not bothering to re-signh him, but a good move for Nashville - surprised it took this long and that little money.

He wasn't going to come here as a healthy scratch with no ice-time unless we have injuries. With Nashville, he's pretty much guaranteed ice-time.

Good bottom pairing d-man. Good stay at home defencemen which complements the offensive style defence of Ellis

Wish we signed him for 1M. Rather have that physical shutdown sort of player on our 3rd pairing mentoring Tanev than Ballard for 4 million, use the extra 3M to sign a 3rd line center (Arnott or Hecht come to mind).

Ideally we'd keep Ballard and Hannan and have great depth, with 2 players on our 3rd pairing who are comfortable to play 20 minutes in case of injuries.

Ok signing for $1M but I'm not torn up at missing out on him. Not a top 6 guy on a contender.

Wow. I thought for sure he'd go to Detroit.

Doesn't that tell you all you need to know bout Scott Hannan? Detroit's front office staff widely regarded as the best in the NHL don't want him on their team even tho they need D bad.
